any advice regarding sale of vehicle at auction and problems

Has there been any misrepresentation? Did the Citroen dealer submit the car for auction? Not that it really matters of course.0

i cant say i appreciate some of the 'your fault' comments. ...
OK
It's not your fault at all.
It's entirely the fault of the auction house.
You can ask the auction for a full refund and perhaps some compo too.
Do you appreciate that more? (even if it's incorrect)
The thanks button is below

"upon paying and inspecting the vehicle immediately after auction we noticed that the engine had been partially dismantled and the pressurised hose had been taken off"
I've got to ask why he didn't inspect beforehand. Is that not an option at car auctions?0 -
Generally no it isn't an option.Auntie-Dolly wrote: »"upon paying and inspecting the vehicle immediately after auction we noticed that the engine had been partially dismantled and the pressurised hose had been taken off"

OP, do you actually have any proof that the car wasn't submitted by a Citroen dealer?0
-
I still can't my head around why the op thinks that a car entered by the Citroen dealer would automatically be a better car? I would have thought they would have kept any half decent Citroen car and tried to sell it directly as they would get far more money compared to auctioning it. I would assume a Citroen main dealer would only auction citroens which are knackered, undesirable or too faulty?0

if the car was described by the auctioneer as MECHANICALLY SOUND and it transpires that it is not, you regect the car at point inspection ON THE PREMISES where the auctioneer can then go back through his bundle and get all the information provided to him by the seller, he can then reverse the transaction and contact the seller. the auction house is not a garage, they rely on the information given to them provided by the seller, the most the auction house will do is turn the key and drive it in.
theres two things here.
mis representation of where the vehicle came from (but the v5c should provide this info)
and vehicle not as described.
the vehicle may have been sold with no warranty but the option is given at auction to purchase a warranty off them wich gives you a certain amount of time to have the vehicle inspected and return to them for a refund if the vehicle is not body or mechanically sound.0 -
Generally no it isn't an option.
no it wasnt an option. the car was running while it was driven through , we had no opportunity to inspect the vehicle beforehand and you have no opportunity to inspect afterwards as the cars are locked and they will only release the keys until you have paid in full
the auction house is confirming that it was entered by the citroen dealer. all the citroen dealers have said the same thing, we wouldnt enter a car that was mechanically a write off.
the v5 shows a local private ownerEven a stopped clock tells the right time twice a day, and for once I'm inclined to believe Withnail is right. We are indeed drifting into the arena of the unwell.0 -
The V5 would show as a private owner as the dealer do not transfer the V5 into their name so that does not prove anything.
As others have said you have no chance of taking this anywhere - it doesnt matter who entered it into the auction, you purchased a vehicle that managed to drive itself through an auction hall that came with no warranty.0
