I am Currently with o2 broadband & phone(anytime) and Sky TV
Now happy with o2 very reliable, get around 13 meg and tech support excellent, but would love to get faster broadband and would happily change all my services to the right provider.
so am either thinking Virgin but the status for my postcode always has connection issues or Sky which i don;t know much about?
important things for me broadband are:
1) broadband has be reliable, i work from home so can't loose connection
2) speed been managing with 13 meg but faster would be a huge bonus
3) unlimted, heavy user with work + xbox users
4) customer service, need to speak to someone who knows what they are doing and not reading off a script or i can't understand them.
providers in my area are:
[*]BT Wholesale ADSL
[*]BT Wholesale ADSL Max
[*]BT Wholesale WBC (21CN)
[*]BT FTTC
[*]AOL LLU
[*]O2 / Be LLU
[*]Bulldog LLU
[*]TalkTalk (CPW) LLU
[*]Sky Broadband / Easynet LLU
[*]Tiscali LLU
[*]Virgin Media (Cable)

Your speed is dependent on your line, so chances are that if you move to another LLU operator, like Sky, you'll get very similar speeds.
The only way to guarentee quicker than the 13Mb you currently have is to use BT's FTTC product (BT Inifnity) or Virgin Media. Personally I'd take BT Infinity over Virgin Media.0 -
thanks Gordon, did look at Infinity i will try and get some feedback about the customer service.
used to be with BT and the call centres used to be awfull

Actual average speeds reports from Ofcom put O2/BE LLU as a faster provider to Sky. I forget the exact details, but it's like about 1Mb difference.
I think that could be down to contention and the fact the O2/BE network is smaller so is more concentrated in towns where people live nearer the exchange and thus get a better speed, so they have a better average report.
VM throttle quite a bit too though, and you may find you have to pay out quite a lot more to get a VM broadband package that doesn't manage traffic too much.
13Mb is really not a bad speed though! If you've got good service, I'd be tempted to say put!!0 -
I wish I could get 13Mb!!

They don't install Infinity here until the end of June.0
