Hi, this is the Daily Thread for 18th May. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in,put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well

Morning all,

Looks like it might brighten up later on, lets hope so, could do with a good weekend.

Off to work today, and to give blood, I shall have my moment thinking of the lovely Molly while I am there.

Dinner tonight is gnocci and salad with garlic bread, so nice and easy.

Will do another wash tonight and put it on the airer.

Have good days all xx

Oh hugs to you and lots of love and thanks :T:T:T
The difference a pint or two of blood makes to me is priceless xxx
I will be thinking of you too x
I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.

Good Morning Redruby and all to follow.

Its Friday and its not raining :j no sunshine at the moment - hopefully it will make an appearance later.

Didn't post yesterday as was off out first thing, didn't get anything done all day so today will be a busy one. In the office this morning got loads to do, then housework this afternoon. Got to make loads of phone calls, we have been advertising a job, arranged to meet a couple of the applicants but they didn't turn up - no phone call or anything  so need to call some more people today.

Pork kebabs with onion rice for dinner tonight, was meant to have earlier in the week but everything got changed around.

(((hugs))) wherever needed/wanted and have a great Friday all.x

Raining again! The washing will go on the airers, they are fast filling up.
Work today and then going to the theatre to see Avenue Q. Not too sure what it's all about but DD says it is for adults! It is a present from DS2 for my birthday earlier in the year so will enjoy the treat. Good job I looked at the tickets though as it starts at 5.30! They must have 2 shows on a Friday.

Hope you are all well or getting better, hugs to those feeling down and enjoy Friday. Take care. XX

Work today and then going to the theatre to see Avenue Q. though as it starts at 5.30!

My DGS and his girlfriend saw this show in New York on Broadway and they really enjoyed it and said it was excellant.I have bought her the CD as its her birthday next week and Danny said she will be so chuffed.
Nose is still running like a tap and I didn't have a very good night at all.I am taking paracetamol and lots of hot drinks but its just a case of putting up with it for a few days.We had a lovely evening last night at my Dds and she cooked some peppered steaks and we all sat around talking about my late OH .Some of the boys had some superb memories of him and the jokes he used to play on them.Jack said he remembered him teaching him how to tie his shoelaces and Ben said 'Granddad taught me to count to 20 in arabic' (He had worked in the Sudan in the 1980s and picked up quite a bit)all sorts of things came out in the discussion and we all had a lovely evening with lots of laughter.
Well time to get a wriggle on for the school run.I'll see how my cold is at lunchtime as I'm supposed to go to History Club this afternoon I am hoping I've 'dried ' up a bit by then
Have a great day everyone whatever you are doing
Its sunny here in Kent but rain is due again I believe

    Morning everyone

Love and hugs to those that are having a hard/sad time at the moment x

Light cloud and chilly here this morning. DH up and off to work stupid early.

Dinner last night was spag bol, DH says it was one of the best I've ever made! But was just made the normal way although I did manage to simmer the tomato sauce base for a bit longer than normal, will make a mental note for next time.

Was reasonably productive yesterday too, managed to get the housework done, cleared the dirty washing basket, got it dried and ironed (think there's a few more bits to do today but not much), also managed to get registered for the village yard sale, so just need to get everything together that we want to sell - it's next weekend. Today I will be heading to the bank, b/society, then SM, pack for going away tonight, baking if I can fit it all in!

Myself and the boys will go to the caravan storage in my car, and meet DH there, we will then all go in 2 cars to site (only 20-30 mins away - so reasonably OS) he will come back tonight after setting up and having some dinner and I'll stay with the boys - DH is working in the morning and will then come back to site at some point tomorrow afternoon. I'm treating the boys to brekkie out in the morning, so we'll be up and away good time - we'll then partake of some retail therapy! Will be intending to re-stock them with pants and socks, maybe some t-shirts too, and poss shorts (not sure if it's worth buying shorts as weather is still so rubbish though!)

Sun has just put in an appearance - bet it doesn't last all weekend!:T

Hugs to those that want/need them, keep safe and well x

Morning all, nice and sunny here again. Up at 5.30 to have a quiet coffee before DGD2 was up at 6. She's had her boiled egg and soldiers then yogurt, all dressed and teeth cleaned. Making a chicken pie for dinner, will help DD2 to finish packing then just a quick swish around here.
    DW and BM on.
Hope you all have a good day.
((((hugs))) to poorlies, worried and sad friends on here.

    Morning!

Sunny in Hastings, but they say it will rain later, coming over from France apparently:o

Seeing OH today after two weeks. Really missed him while he was in the USA. Talked on Skype, but I think because it was a different country it felt odd!:rotfl:

Going to try a recipe in the Daily Mail. Fish, beetroot and potato traybake. Need to eat more beetroot for my blood pressure. It's still coming down and is nearly normal:T

DD asked me to have DGD tomorrow, and for the first time I said No.
I need this weekend with my OH alone!!:rotfl:

Garden is coming up lovely, have picked all the radishes now, waiting for the next lot to grow bigger now!

    (((((((((((((((((((HUGS))))))))))))))) if you want them.

    Have a good day all.

    ¡Hola!

Thinking of you Adelight today, remember the happy times spent with your Gran, and celebrate her life and love with you all. Pleased you managed to get your dissy in, well done.

Jackie-0 - Glad you had a lovely family meal to remember your DH's birthday, hope the nose dried up soon.

Belated :bdaycake: to those I missed.

Everyone else under the weather, lost or deceased or poorly pet, and anyone who'd just like one have a dodgy hug :grouphug:

Cloudy here today but 21C, and no rain forecast, so may just try to tackle Mount Ironmore today, trip to Lidl is also on the cards.

Keep getting nabbed for PC clean up and sort out by the neighbours out here, prefer it to ironing though.

Still fighting the weight, more exercise definitely required, but can never find the time :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

    Take care everyone. DG

    Morning all

I'm back from my 2 day work trip to Portsmouth to visit the Navy. It was a tiring trip as I did all the driving, but we had fun. We stayed onboard HMS Bristol (a decommissioned ship which is permanently docked in the harbour). We arrived early so spent an hour playing footie on the astroturf before going to have dinner. After dinner we went to Southsea Common to play rounders and have a walk by the sea (though the work kids disappeared to the arcade at this point! :rotfl:). On Thursday we had a boat tour around the harbour where we got to see all the different types of Navy boats, then a trip to the Royal Marine Museum, then we went to HMS Victory (Nelson's ship) and had a tour round that. And finished the day off with some interactive games and simulators. I think the work kids enjoyed most of the day!

I was strange being in Portsmouth cos I went to uni there (only for a year cos I transferred back to home uni after that), but loads of memories came flooding back. I went to find my old uni house too :D.

I have the day off today to recover :). So I have a 3 day weekend, and absolutely no plans whatsoever *insert confused smiley*. This is unlike me. I have also finished uni, so don't even had to [STRIKE]avoid doing uni work[/STRIKE] study ;) :rotfl:. Sadly I'm a little poor so can't get up to much, I get paid Monday so may 'borrow' £20 if I want to do something small. Car is full of petrol though so can go places. The main thing I need to do this weekend is get on top of all my paperwork, I've still not changed my address since moving in Jan! luckily I have mail redirection til next month.

OS wise - WM will go on, dishes to put away, laundry to put away, quick tidy round.

    Have a fab day all
