At this stage I'd be concentrating on chasing toyota.

I am doing both at the moment, following both Toyota myself and also letting the police know they shouldn't be closing the case. I just want to email the police and let them know that I know my rights and will follow them up. Even a police man on the phone who kindly said he will take my crime report told me: "welcome to my world" in reference to no police officer wanting to take responsibility.
I want to be pre-prepared and know my options. I have found this site in regards to reporting the police: http://www.ipcc.gov.uk/
but it seems they only deal with cases where death or injury is involved. Does any one know about them and whether they are actually helpful?0 -
Have a look at http://www.ipcc.gov.uk/en/Pages/professional_standards_contact_details.aspx for where you need to make the first complaint to.0

What exactly is your complaint against the police?0

I would guess you mean neglect.
What do you claim they've don't wrong?0 -

Yes I do as I have already explained in this thread. Your one line questions are not helping me tbh when I've already explained everything in the thread. If with your questions you are trying to say 'you have no receipt so you can't complain against the police' then just say that.0 -

Neither was it the seller's to sell. In my book there is a possible case of fraud or 'obtaining money by deception' which surely the police should be investigating. If the police return the car to the finance co, then the OP should be getting his £5k back from the seller. Non of this is rocket science is it really. It's highly likely the seller can even be identified so not a lot of footwork involved for the police!PLEASE NOTEMy advice should be used as guidance only. You should always obtain face to face professional advice before taking any action.0
