What's your business?
My business is in video productions, I mostly work with schools, charities and small local businesses.
The bulk of it is filming school shows and producing dvds for them, but I also do promotional videos etc, I also do small projects for schools for use in lessons etc.
I actually do small jobs for free and work on small margins when it comes to producing dvds/blu-ray as it then means every child can afford one in the case of school shows, if I find out there is a family who genuinely can't afford it I do give copies away (keep it quiet to not upset paying customers.
I will say with many jobs I end up earning less than minimum wage for the hours it takes but I really don't mind too much. With that I do get many presents and thank you cards.Have my first business premises (+4th business) 01/11/2017

Oh one has to wonder about Chucky and his little mates. All come acroos as pretty thick playground bullies. Easy target isn`t it to round on Graham, Chucky, and the rest of your gang likely to giggle and and pile in.
Unless you have not realised, many folk in this country are having a very tough time. Did you notice? Why is it you have to put the boot in. In my opinion, Graham talks far mor sense than you. At least, like me, he looks ahead.
All these nasty, insulting comments say a lot more about you then all your childish digs at Graham.
Oh, and by the way, I am waiting for a bit of your poison to be spit at me.0 -
So its a free market when the customers have the choice of being homeless or not.
Or is its greed pushing prices up and tenants have little choice but to accept.
That would only be the case if there was only 1 property available to rent or if there was only 1 landlord you could rent from.
It's rather like trying to argue that people would starve if Tesco put the price of bread up. They wouldn't; they'd just shop at Sainsbury's or Waitrose instead.0 -

I find the bullying of Graham_Devon boring and TBH I don't really understand why (s)he hangs around to take it. I wouldn't.
Like every poster on here, me included, GD makes some good points and some terrible ones. I've written some real rubbish on here:
- I insisted NRK and B&B were solvent as the queues grew longer
- I predicted the FTSE100 would hit 3,000 before it would hit 6,500 (yet to be proved wrong technically but I suspect that I am)
- I thought that share prices of LLOY and RBS would go to £0.00
And that's before we get into my many factual inaccuracies.
Ultimately it's all a bit of fun and I think many of us (again I include myself in this) are guilty of getting a bit carried away at times.0 -

Admire your wording though Hamish!
Arrears going up just "a few tenths of a percent" but, the "few tenths of a percent" 0.5% is just described as "up"
Infact, rent arrears incresed 1.2%, not a "few tenths of a percent" (silly boy Hamish), from 8.7% to 9.9%. The physical amount of unpaid rent rose 14% to £306m, from £267m the previous month.
Actually if arrears go from 8.7% to 9.9% then they have increased by 1.2/8.7 x 100% = 13.8%.0 -
My business doesn't involve squeezing every last penny out of families based on something they need to feed my own greed.
My business offers a cheap service and an excellent product to which they won't be left homeless if they don't buy.
Ethical business is for me.
I can't quite decide whether you are really that naive or whether you are just being provocative. But I'll answer as if you are being honest.
Neither does ours, in fact we deliberately set rents below the market value so that we have a wider choice of tenants. We do however understand the importance of profitability but we also appreciate the importance of a hassle free life, and having good relationships with our long standing tenants certainly makes life more pleasant. They usually only move on due to a change in circumstances (relationship, work etc).
You seem to see everything as black and white with no grey areas, it seems in your opinion businesses are either greedy or charitable. But the world doesn’t work like that. Our business exists to make profit, the charitable work that I do is separate and associated with various dog rescue centres.Chuck Norris can kill two stones with one birdThe only time Chuck Norris was wrong was when he thought he had made a mistakeChuck Norris puts the "laughter" in "manslaughter".I've started running again, after several injuries had forced me to stop0 -

It's refreshing to see Pobby's PC is only able to look at what Chucky posts. He probably needs an upgrade.
Have a lovely day.0 -

A minor uptick in arrears of a few tenths of a percent, but still markedly lower than they were last year.
Hamish, you didn't you post a link to this ? Was it because the article also stated this?LSL noted that the level of arrears among tenants had become worse again, with nearly 10% of all rents late or in arrears.
"Many tenants' finances suffered in April as a result of seasonal spending over the Easter period, not to mention the increasing cost of renting," said Mr Newnes.
"Despite several monthly dips in 2012, rents are still rising at a faster rate than wages annually0 -

He's a stubborn sod, our Graham. I've lost count how many times I've seen Hamish et al correct Graham on some basic economic principle, yet he sticks around and continues to post rubbish. I kinda respect that.
It's not the predictions that wind people up, its the fact that he has a billion posts yet still has a poorer understanding of the economy than my neighbour's goldfish.
Anyway, it's clear that he's not gonna change and I'm sure he'll be doing the same thing for the next decade, so I wholeheartedly promise to be nicer from now on."Beware of little expenses. A small leak will sink a great ship." - Benjamin Franklin0
