Rents rising again....

No worries.
As you say imply your subsequent post, rents can't really be fixed as there are too many landlords and renters. Rents find their own level as do house prices.
Prices are never right or wrong in a free-ish market they are just what is agreed between those that want to buy and those that want to sell. There is nothing more.0 -
Exactly, the market is the market and the price is the price agreed between he buyer and seller of the service. It's not greed in anyway.
So its a free market when the customers have the choice of being homeless or not.
Or is its greed pushing prices up and tenants have little choice but to accept.Have my first business premises (+4th business) 01/11/2017

Greed is the market force.
Lets put it simply.
You buy a house to rent out.
You set a rental figure which clears costs and makes a small profit.
All sudden your costs drop due to low interest rates so profits are up.
So what is the reason to increase rent it costs have dropped?
Greed...
I'm afraid you really show your naivety on this time and again.
If a landlord is pricing above what the market can bear then they will have an empty house. More fool them.
When you come to sell your house, you will sell it for the market price. You won't decline any increase due to market appreciation over time, despite your purchase price not having risen will you?
Try to think a little more rationally about renting rather than falling into the playground bile spewing, it doesn't help you portray the picture you (presumably) want of a responsible, intelligent young man.0 -

Thank you.
There really isn't any answer to that except to say that I hope you enjoy the cricket as much as I plan to do.

I don't think I did either.
I'm just watching the cricket on TV and having a chat.
If people enjoy what I write then that's great. If they don't then they should ignore me.0 -

Sorry but I really am trying to understand, fair enough it costs where up then I ccan see why prices need to rise, but for many costs are static or have fallen so why did they need to rise prices?, just because they all do it doesn't make it right.Who said they would be homeless or are you saying that they won't be allowed to move to a more affordable property or even a more affordable area?
What if you already living in the cheapest area in the small property?
How far should people have to migrate? what would the cost be for said moves?Have my first business premises (+4th business) 01/11/2017

No idea and no idea. I'm not in that position to decide.
What do you think it should be be?
Good question, well as you think somebody who can't pay the mortgage shouldn't be kicked out I suppose they should be able to live rent free at the landlords expense.
Yes many renters could quit smoking and buy aldi beans instead of Heinz, but how much should people be squeezed so landlords can buy a new 4x4 every 3 years?Have my first business premises (+4th business) 01/11/2017
