All the cottages near me empty into a shared cess pit but they only empty it once a year. Seems a bit OTT to average every 12 weeks, but perhaps its a different design. The one the cottages use has a tank for solids and the liquids go into a second chamber full of gravel for bacteria to work on. Its on my land so I watched the maintenance guys give it a full overhaul, it was like an underground bunker.

Our cesspool has no soak away, so every drop of water (and other stuff!) stays in the sealed tank, this is why it is so expensive.

You still haven't explained why you want your landlord to suffer so badly because she tried to increase the rent by 3%.

Because I think she is being greedy. How does it make sense to put the rent up by £480.00 per year, when re-letting costs will be approximately £800.00? If the property doesn't let within a month she will also have a void costing £800.00

Maybe I should change my word from greedy to stupid!

I think it's fair to say you guys were the stupid ones, overpaying for a poor product and it took the price being raised for you to look elsewhere?

That's less than inflation, quite reasonable really.

I'm not sure what a tenant would expect.

Well yeah 3% should be enough to cover your [STRIKE]increasing costs [/STRIKE]greed.

So the way you see it is if everybody else is putting the poot in with families there is no harm if you kick them too?

You do know that the inflation rate is over 3% right?

It sounds reasonable she increased the rent, but even better for you if you found somewhere cheaper that is the same or better.

Yet another one that doesn't understand the rate of inflation.

Percy is getting good at this anger thing, it's the emotional attachment. It's stopping him think logically and intelligently.

You think she's being greedy/stupid. Maybe she is, maybe she isn't.

Clearly you compared your property to other similar properties in the area and decided to move. Fair play.

But to wish financial harm on someone because they offered you a very reasonable increase, which is probably in-line with price inflation in the area, suggests that you're the unreasonable one.

What are you going to do next year when your current greedy monster landlord increases the rent by a similar amount? Move home again?

    Yes we will move again.

I did compare other properties on the market, there were 18 two bed properties in the area with an average rent of £753.00 per month, our rent was already £770 so an increase to £810 is well over the average (and yes I did send this information to the LL)

I don't think I am being unreasonble, if she had just left the rent alone we would have stayed 5+ years, giving her a stress free let.

If she does get a cr**p tenant after us, maybe next time she will think-on about rent increases
