Vertical blinds that's what we have works great. You can alter angle of blinds during day to give privacy but also stop sun coming in and shining on tv (south facing) we have them on a large bay window, landing window (large) and our bedroom0

We have got roman blinds with curtains, looks fine. Next door have got vertical ones, also looks fine. You could have a blind in a fabric that still lets light through, such as voile.
I wonder what the film would look like from the outside, and how hard it would be to get off if you change your mind or want to move.I have had many Light Bulb Moments. The trouble is someone keeps turning the bulb off

TBH Blinds without curtains in a living room look too clinical.
Vertical blinds are generally more aesthetically pleasing for Living rooms. Venetian blinds always look too "office like" IMHO.Truth always poses doubts & questions. Only lies are 100% believable, because they don't need to justify reality. - Carlos Ruiz Zafon, The Labyrinth of the Spirits0 -
I got rid of all the nets finally (OH took some persuading) and now we have wooden venetian blinds at the front of the house and in the kitchen the vertical ones.. I love the way I can adjust just how much I can see out and how much sunlight I can let in or shut out.. I also took down all the big curtains its amazing how much bigger the rooms and windows look without all that fabric hanging at each side. Also found the wooden blinds seem to keep the rooms cooler in the Summer where there is direct sunlight.#6 of the SKI-ers Club :j

We have internal shutters fitted which look lovely. They are white so (despite what people might think) don't tend to block light. They aren't cheap to have fitted but well worth it imo (much easier to clean than venetian blinds as the slats are bigger)Feb 2015 NSD Challenge 8/12JAN NSD 11/16
