Hi all! Quick question if anybody is able to help.
Am I able to retire 3 days before turning 65? I know I will be unable to receive my state pension until I am 65 but wondered if it would affect my benefits actually retiring 3 days before turning 65.
Any help for a newbie would be appreciated.
Many Thanks

3 days will make zero difference. You can retire whenever you want.Hi all! Quick question if anybody is able to help.

Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S)
Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money.

best to post on the pension board rather than the credit card
but you can stop working when ever you like
as long as you have 30 years NI credits then you will get the full basic state pension0 -
You can retire whenever you wish. What "benefits" are you referring to, and is 65 still your retirement age?0

Welcome to MSE. :hello:Any help for a newbie would be appreciated.
As CLAPTON said, the best help is to suggest that you post on The Pensions, Annuities & Retirement Planning Board.

If you are concerned about retiring three days before you are 65, is it not possible to work the extra 3 days, just to be sure of everything?
Happy retirement though!0 -
Do you have 3 days of holiday leave you can take?0

Well I gave up my employ at 60 and have another 3 years before I reach my state pension age (god willing). I made sure I had enough NI contributions of 30 years to make sure I got my full state pension.
Also I was advised by the NI office I get automatic NI credits up until I retire. So based on my experience 3 days one way or perhaps the other will make no difference to you.
One thing I will add is prepare your mind for your new career.0 -

This is being phased out in line with the rise in women's returement age to 65, though, so people retiring early in future won't receive thse credits.0 -

Very true and will be on a sliding scale. However in my case it does not affect me.0
