It's a business relationship, they aren't meant to be your friends! The best way to find out what's on offer is to call, or go to a store, or speak to their retention team. If you are spending £36 on your price plan, and nothing over then they won't see you as a very profitable customer. The fact that you say ten years off and on, undermines the expectation of loyalty somewhat!

What sort of deal is it that you want? Better phone, or a cheaper deal, or both?

Anyway, does anyone have any recommendations for a mobile network who value their customers?

No mobile network 'values' their customers. They're interested in how much money they can make out of you.

Work out how many minutes, texts and data you used over the your last contract and go with whichever network will give you what you need at lowest price, provided they have signal in your area.

Are you sure? Without the customer there would be no business. I'm fairly certain that in today's competitive mobile phone market they value every single customer. A loyal and valued customer brings residual worth.

No they don't. It's not about number of customers anymore, it's about earning per customer.

What the networks want is people who spend a lot each month (ie £50 up) and still make calls outside the bundle. IE they use the services that are extra cost and bring in profits.

Long term customers tend to be on retention deals, where the costs of retaining them in terms of discounts given means they may be borderline in terms of keeping.

Vodafone's computer systems will know how much they make on any given person, and that will trigger what deals the retention teams can offer, if they don't offer any retention deal then it's because the computer knows you don't bring much in so they'd rather you moved on.

As thatsean says it's a business, if they don't make enough on you they'll find someone else, and theres always network churn to get more people in who may bring in more, or at least they don;t have to offer retention discounts to.

I've been with Orange since before the 2nd "7" digit was added to the area code.

We've got two phones with them, and use them for calls and texts (no data).

When our contract came up for renewal last, we decided to keep the handsets we already had and go for a SIM only deal. They were very helpful and offered us £5/month which plenty covers our usage.

There are a couple of bad signal areas on our train line buth otherwise we're generally OK.
