Is this normal?

Hi, today i have received a letter Tax credits B & C compliance operations. It says they want all my bank statements for the last financial year and proof of childcare costs.It also spends a lot of time talking of penalties. I don't believe i've done anything wrong, so not sure why i have this.It did say it selects people, but was wondering if anyone has randomly received this? Thanks.

I suspect they have as they "audit"every year a certain number of claimants picked at random,this happens for many benefit claimants

Send them in, but keep copies of all correspondence, just in case.
Normally just routine, unless you have other income not declared to them?

Thanks. No I have no other income than my child maintenance from the ex , which I thought you didn't have to declare.However, this amount is clearly shown on my bank statements as child maintenance. Thanks for the replies

Have you sent all the info back i've been asked for exactly the same can you let me know if they query anything on your bank statements can't understand why they want them

i got a letter today wanting childcare reciets, i thought them away about a month back and didnt think i would need them so gonna have to ring up the nursery 2mrow and hope they can help lol

no a joint one, but the letter was just sent to me for some reason, i have looked into this tho and app 50,000 of these letters was sent out last year, i think people make childcare claims about fake children, i am a bit scared tho with not having the reciets

You should be able to get a copy of the receipts or the amount paid from the nursery.

I didn't have any proof what i have paid didn't start paying through the bank till 13th December but my Childminder gave me all her accounts stating how much i have paid since she started in April 2011 and also a letter stating that she goes there for 12 hours a week i'm a bit worried about the bank statement part as i owe my ex money for things i have bought my daughter and i think they may query that

dont quote me on this but i think they are more intested in making sure you you do actually have a child who does have childcare, theres many cases when a family member looks after them and they claim or even made up children.
