Well, first of all, what do you like to eat? Are there any restrictions? £10 a week will be hard, but it is do-able :)

    do you have a freezer?

a slowcooker might also be a good idea to save on elec and to be able to cook cheaper cuts of meat.

yesterday i made a pot of stew it cost £1 (i got half price meat so usually £1.50) and it did 4 bowls last night and 3 portions for the freezer so 20p a portion and a good size portion aswell more than enough for my hubby who works in a physicially demanding job.

That should be do-able, it's more than £1 a day... I'm sure there were some 50p a day threads.... Weezl did it for two on £40 a month and has done other challenges on the same theme (prices will be higher now due to rises)
    Some relevant threads...
    50p a day 'til Christmas
    6000 meals under 50p each

Probably involving a lot of porridge and soup and beans! How keen are you on meat? If you must have it you could do mince, sausages, bacon 'bits'.
Cheap sausages for £1 for 8 could do 4 meals, with pulses, tinned tomatoes.
Cheap noodles with extra bits in.
    Rice with random veggies...

I live on my own and don't think i spend more than that.
Always have a big bowl of cereal for breakfast, couple of Weetabix and handful of Bran flakes. Lunch would be a bowl of HM soup and a sandwich, the bread is homemade as well. I'll always have a proper meal for tea (or dinner if you're down south). I make curries and casseroles in the slowcooker with lots of veg and pulses and lentils so try to cut down on expensive meat. Most of the veges i use are frozen so i get a few out as i need them, so if i'm making dinners say a chicken would have been done in the SC and portioned in the freezer, I do stir fries and get bacon off cuts, or what ever is on offer.

I try to keep things as healthy as i can so get the best sausage i can but even these have a lot of fat, so if i was cutting them into mouth size chunks in a SC curry i'd dry fry them to get most of the fat out before throwing them in with lots of lentils.

What, if anything do you have in your cupboards in the way of herbs or spices?

Is there any chance you can start to grow-your-own, lots of things are very easy to grow, at this time of year you could have salad for nothing everyday.

Do you have access to a freezer?

ETA: What shops do you have within walking distance?

This will make it easier for those more knowledgeable than me to help you.
