Benchmarx Vs Wickes Prices

Options
Does anyone have any experience of the prices of these relative to each other? I would have thought that Benchmarx trade would always beat Wickes retail even with all their discounts but wondered what others have found.

not sure about those you mentioned but I always check b&q v screwfix and the results are often quite staggering. recently been doing up a house and regularly check the builders merchants against major chains and its surprising just how often the large retail stores offer better value. either way it's down to checking around and varies product to product

Not quite. They are both owned by Travis Perkins plc which also owns Travis Perkins (the builders merchant), PTS, Tile Giant, City Plumbing and Toolstation to name but a few in addition to Wickes and Benchmarx. So different operating companies but under the same umbrella.

    Cheers

I know travis owns ( i posted it in another thread) yet they sell the same product, 98% the same kitchens, same wirework same hinges etc.
yet benchmarx is pre-built and wickes is flat.

Yes but thats not the same as they're being the same company which is the statement I was commenting upon. I did say "not quite". :)

The truth is generally that Benchmarx are more likely to be cheaper more of the time, but certainly not always, however you get better T&C,s from Wickes but most Bmarx units come pre-built.......

If you find one you like the answer is to get prices from both. You will probably get a better design from Wickes, so go there first.

    I will do, thanks.

The pre-built Vs flat pack isn't something I'd considered so thanks to those who pointed it out. If we install ourselves flat pack might actually be advantageous as far as storage space it takes up as we no doubt poodle along although we're not decided on that.

The other thing about BM is you can get what you need (kitchens) much quicker - normally within a week - Wickes can take a month plus

having this week priced up the parma BM with the New Jersey wickes. a neighbour gave me the wickes quote. the price from both was around £ 30 different for a 8.5k kitchen. rang them up stating this, they said they could knock 200 off.
personally the 200 is not worth the hassle.

Thank you. Please can I just clarify who was cheaper and therefore who was willing to knock £200 off.

My position is that they have a similar difference of less than £100 but the Wickes has been sourced by me and the BM by a potential kitchen installer so I feel terrible for him that he's not able to source it any cheaper than I have and has therefore lost his competetive position.
