Anyone ever seen a chiropractor ?

DD has been having back trouble for months and I took her to see a chiropractor last week (1st time)
Apparently her pelvis is tilted causing the spine to twist and there is a trigger point ??? in the muscles.
Has anyone else experience of anything similar and if so how did you go on. Did you recover fully and if so how long. TIA x

Yes, I have had a similar problem from my teens..... am now the wrong side of 50.
A chiropractor will 'pull & click' things back into place but the underlying weakness will remain & is likely to recur from time to time.

My sister sees a chiropractor regularly and the noises that come off her are crazy but it really helps her a lot.

My daughter who is a high level athlete had a back problem when she was 17. She was given the same diagnosis as your DD, and had a series of treatments that totally fixed the problem, together with lots of core work done at home.

No back problems for her now, although she goes for a 'tune up' every so often.

It took a couple of months to be fully recovered but that went hand in hand with rest!

My sis goes every 3 months now. She's got arthritis and it makes her walk strange which pushes at her spine, the chiro straightens her out. She used to go weekly but now it's more of a tune up than a session of hard straightening.

You might also want to check for things like scoliosis, which is fairly common in teenage girls.

My dad had a horrendous experience which left him in great pain for many years. Know what you are getting into!

A month or so ago my Dad was bending down to pat a dog and put a disc in his back out. He was in absolute agony and had to spend 4 nights sleeping in a chair in the living room.

He went to a chiropractor who gave him this green jelly stuff to reduce inflamation. It's called Biofreeze which you can get in a spray. After a week he went back and the chiropractor gently manipulated it back into place.

Touch wood no problems since. It was before Easter Weekend unfortunately so he couldn't be seen until the Tuesday.

My DD has scoliosis and is now 24. Would a chiropracter help?

    Thanks

I've had a lot of problems with my back over the last 18 months. It was a long standing twist/ occasional pain but because I increased the amount of sports training I was doing, it became difficult to cope with it, and sports massage was not releasing the muscles fully since they were being pulled by my wonky spine.
I was (and still do sometimes) visibly leaning to one side/ twisted and could see that on an x-ray myself.
It's taken quite a few treatments over the last 12 months as my muscles were quite strongly adapted so kept pulling it back.

It's not particularly pleasant when being treated (and is not cheap), and my scientific background keeps screaming at me about the lack of decent studies, but at the same time, the pain is less, I look/ feel straighter and my sports performance was improving (at least before we moved and I stopped training).
