Thanks ormus, plaster cracked and where loose has been pulled off. Mortar gone between some of the bricks, but no bricks cracked...........
Structrural Inspection?? ..... have done a preliminary check on t'internet, and been sent 3 'automatic quotes'. They vary from £215 - £390 .... is one likely to be 45% better?
I'm off to open another bottle....
....
..... watch this space. Blimey, that was an unfortunate turn of phrase wasn't it?0 -

Hi
As the house is 1880s this type of crack is not uncommon. if the party wall is ok on the other side i wouldnt worry to much. engineer will suggest some type of batts straps be fitted and crack filled with epoxy mortar, followed maybe with wire lath being fitted and re-plastered. As for the rest of the plaster, it is just down to old age. plaster patch the worsed and maybe scim coat the full wall before applying lining paper or just paint finished plastered walls.
