Samsung Galaxy S2 Flash out of sync
I've never been one for taking pictures with my phone, usually the camera hasn't been up to it. Even my old iPhone 3 was barely adequate!
I now have a Galaxy S2 and the camera while far from perfect isn't that bad. As a result I've started to use it for general day to day snaps when I don't want to carry a camera.
This evening I wanted to take an indoor shot in poor light so I turned the flash on.
I activate the camera, there's a beep and it focuses, there's a pre flash followed by the proper flash then about a second later the shutter goes off by which time the flash has long since ended.
I've tried various settings and can't get the flash to sync correctly with the shutter release, it always goes off early and we're not talking fractions of a second, we're talking at least 1 second if not more.
My SG2 is running the latest version of Android. Not an upgrade I installed but installed by Samsung, my phone stopped working and Samsung replaced it with a new one that came pre-loaded with Ice Cream Sandwich.
Anyone got any idea how to fix this or is it time for another return to Samsung?
The phone is two weeks old.

Seems like you are unlucky with handsets, anyways I leave mine on Auto and it is fine for most occasions, that said the exmor sensors often found on recent devices as good as negates the need for a flashlight even indoors.0

Funny you should say that. I took the photo assuming the flash would fire if required, it didn't. I then set the flash to Auto and tried again, this is when I noticed the problem. I also noticed that first picture was a lot better than the with flash presumably because the flash should have given better light levels.
I think you might be right about the handset. I had my old iPhone 3 since the week they were released until a month ago and it never let me down. It's still going strong, I gave it to the memsahib.
I decide to try something different and have nothing but problems.

Ho hum.
The flash sync can be an issue I would suspect, only the SE Satio and N8 have great cameras, perhaps the Xperia S will appraoch those two models, every other one is just a little greater than adequate, although I have my SE K750i still working strong, so other brands live their life :cool:0
