Travel insurance for hospital workers

Dear all

I have a job in New Zealand working as a doctor for one year. I'm trying to sort out travel insurance. I have been declined insurance by AXA and direct insurance on the basis that I'll be working in a hospital. Have also tried Wesleyan but a quick look at their website shows single trip only available up to 120 days.

I need insurance for one year that includes winter sports cover. In this time I may travel to nearby countries from New Zealand on holiday - this will be probably less than one month of the year that I am away.

Anyone got any ideas about who might be a reasonably priced insurer that suits my needs?

I've checked with our insurance team and they've confirmed there is a medical elective contract that covers people working abroad for up to one year.

Are you looking for the cover on the work itself as well as the normal travel elements or just travel for 1 year and you will have other insurances for medical negligence etc? Are you a member of the MDU or equiv? Do they have the option of extending it to other countries?
