Because on here the amount of people visiting the board is far higher than the eBay boards, and the Mods are better

Because Ebay Forums are so heavily moderated and censored by Ebay Staff

I posted a scathing post about Ebays removal of the Kit Car parts section and it was simply removed with no explanation.

@Invalidation - if scathing criticism wasn't allowed, Seller Central would have been wiped off the map ages ago.

A more serious answer is that here we can discuss and compare sites without eBay's mods shutting down the threads if we talk about 'no, that sort of thing would sell better on...[insert competitor here]'.

That's the only sort of thread I've seen eBay actually nix from the Seller Central/Community Q&A board - and I've been posting there ten years and sometimes get surprised some of the regulars are still using eBay, the way they talk.

More likely Invalidation posted on the wrong forum.

Because the eBay forurms are pretty obscure and this is a popular site thats visited by plenty of people who often start on one sub-forum and drift over here....?

Also the eBay forums are dominated by sellers well known to each other and like to pull to pieces any newbies that post... at least in my experiance. You're also lucky if you get more than a couple of replies before they carry on chatting about what they were chatting about on another thread.... and moderaters hardly to be seen anywhere.

The ebay boards are very hostile, and people tend to snoop through listings and feedback from people posting questions. At least here there is a degree of anonymity - or at least there is if people use different user IDs!

This happened to me and they posted a picture from one of my listings. I was really taken aback as I had no idea that this was possible. I felt it was quite an agressive thing to do...and I also wondered what sort of person would have time to do that :p

I like asking on here because you get responses from people who have experienced it, and you are told things that eBay would rather you didn't know. And the majority of people are constructive.

    Or

Why do you ask [STRIKE]eBay[/STRIKE] questions on here and never come back to acknowledge the responses?

Try that on the ebay community boards and you will be tarred and feathered and your account picked over like carrion to find anything wrong with it.

Actually, it's easier to help when you can see what's going on and what might have happened to cause the trouble.

Say a seller was complaining about the buyer rejecting the postage costs they had charged. On here we could ask twenty questions and only eventually work out that the seller was asking for more money when there was a capped charge and they had written in their listing 'eBay won't let me charge the full amount but postage will be £6 rather than £4'.

On the eBay forums we could see the listing in question and know why the buyer was disputing things.

The thing is, some people also take any advice/constructive criticism as aggressive if it's not what they want to hear. However, there are established rules, customs and harder facts about selling than some people want to hear - so knowing what is going wrong is the first step towards getting a dispassionate view and putting it right.

In practice it's not always that hard but since we are always dependent on what the buyer/seller wants to tell us, it's harder here to get right to the heart of the problem quickly.

I do agree, I think some people on the other forum can give bad advice, but that is not different to over here - because it is usually someone's opinion and not a dedicated CS team that have to stay 'on message'.
