You mean Biscuits Brown or Biscuits Oat?...The Oat one we'd crumble up into the hot chocolate & make a sort of porridge.....
Biscuits AB Brown, Biscuits AB and Biscuits AB fruit.
Hot chocolate oats was OK though. I really hated the chicken curry but everyone loved the square sausages and the bacon grill.
I once whacked a slopjockey with a can of cheese possessed because on an exercise where we were being causalities for medics we missed 3 meals in a row because we were out being causalities then when we got back this charmer was told to feed us and he gave us a knife, a loaf and a tin of cheese possesed and said we were not on the ration because we were dead. The truth may be out there, but the lies are inside your head. I keep meaning to ask someone about them but I have a feeling they might be feta-like tinned in brine. They're a tiny bit pricey for a chance-purchase in case I don't like it and they have at least a couple of dozen different brands in about half a dozen sizes. I NEED TO KNOW WHAT IT'S LIKE. Cheese-fiend speaking here. I daresay it's very nice and I have yet to meet a cheese that I didn't like. I have some Turkish "cooking-cheese" in the fridge which I haven't tried yet called Kashkaval Erzincan Kasari picked up for a few pennies out of curiosity. I need to get off my bahookie and use it in a recipe
If on the other hand I'm wrong and I have my cheeses mixed up, and it's white when you open it, then treat it as you would feta. Or try some yummy turkish recipes like gozleme....Softstuff- Officially better than 0070 -

Oooooooooooo Yes! bacon grills they weren't bad at all. Once had a mix of chicken curry and peaches in syrup (don't ask) and that was surprisingly okish:rotfl:0 -
I don't suppose anyone here is old enough to remember the tins of "meat" stuff which had a thingummy in the middle which you lit to heat the contents up?
Dad coming back from exercises was always an adventure. If we were good we'd even get the chocolate which I think also came in a tin0 -
There's rather a variety of Turkish cheeses that come in tins, so they do vary somewhat. I may be wrong (it's while since I lived there), but I reckon the one you have there is a yellow cheese. It can be grated, pretty much like cheddar can and is used in a similar way (topping stews or soups, filling toasted sarnies, topping pastries). So, if it's yellow when you open it, that's it!

The Kashkaval I have in the fridge is in plastic wrap and it's yellow. I haven't been brave enough to risk good money on any of the tinned cheese yet.
I want to make Borek!0 -

The stuff in the fridge is a bit like a rubbery cheddar then. No good for borek, sorry.
What kind of borek did you want to make? There's a fair few kinds and I can point you to a recipe or 3 if you like?Softstuff- Officially better than 0070 -
I'll be making some borek once I've acquired the right kind of tinned cheese and the filo. I have a recipe stashed away taken from the "turkishcookbook" site for Muska Boregi with spring onion and parsley. Cor, there are some really delicious-sounding dips and veggie appetizers on that site.0

 what is the 'meat' that you light up in the middle?? Someone will know or find out.
This thread has been great to read for a giggle......not sure about spray cheese though, but would have loved it as a kid.:)Yep...still at it, working out how to retire early.:D....... Going to have to rethink that scenario as have been screwed over by the company. A work in progress.0 -
I think the meat stuff may have been a stew of some kind. Can't remember now as it's been fifty-odd years. It was like a can within a can. so the medium you lit and which smouldered wasn't actually touching what was inside, just the metal separating them iyswim0
