Tinned cheese - suggestions?

Options
Hi,
I was fortunate enough to come into possession of a couple of cans of tinned cheese :)
Now I'm assuming I can pretty much use this cheese in much the same way as regular cheese & praying it doesn't taste awful.

Suggestions that spring to mind are to melt in on toast, homemade pizza etc
Melt for a cheese sauce e.g mac n cheese etc

Any other suggestions out there? Has anyone ever actually used tinned cheese before & lived to tell the tale?

    Heavens.....cheese in a tin.....never heard of it.

I am curious though ,where do you get it from? And is it solid or does it come out like a cold rice-pudding consistency?

Can't think of what you could use it for other than what you have said really.

I might have to google it .

And you must post back so that we know whether it is lethal or not , although if lethal you can't post.:)
Yep...still at it, working out how to retire early.:D....... Going to have to rethink that scenario as have been screwed over by the company. A work in progress.

I seem to remember jamie.o going on about some cheese over there,I guess that could come in tins as it was in huge vat type tins on the prog.

Is it american ? Seem to remember jamie.o talking about an american cheese that would be of a consistency to be put into a tin?

I've never seen tinned cheese, either. I'm now very curious. If you could post a couple of photos (one of the tin and one of the contents, once open), I'd appreciate it.

    Good luck.

It's nice, to me it tastes like Austrian smoked cheese, definately more taste and firmer than Dairylea triangles, I would say half way between medium and strong in flavour, you need to open the tin at both ends and push it out in one piece, that way you can slice it etc, otherwise it is a bit of a nightmare getting it out of the tin in one piece, it melts easily, I can't really see any limitations on what you can use it for when cooking.

    I get 5 x 226g tins for £1
