Hi, this is the Daily Thread for 15th May. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in,put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Morning everyone and hus to all in need especially jools

Weatherwise it's not raining, it's not windy. In fact the sun is shining and not a cloud in the sky. Perhaps I'm still asleep! OH gone in early. She's made me a cuppa :D Only OS thing planned today is going to seminar where there is free lunch.oh and band practice which I guess is free. Hmmm shouldn't have stayed up so late last night

Have a good day everyone xxx

  • Good morning DundeeDoll and to all who follow,
It's a bit dull here this morning. I don't think it is due to brighten up too much either.
Not too much to report. Wm is on so that will go on the airer before i leave for work. Chicken pieces are out for tea, having them with potatoes and veg. I'll get a cake of some sort made when i put the oven on. Our electricity has gone through the roof so i make use of the oven alot more.
I hope everyone has a good day and hugs to those who need them.

Cloudy and blue skies here thankfully no rain, so I've got a line of washing out and another load in WM. Today I'll help DD2 with her packing. DD2, SiL2b, DGD2 and DGD3 are coming on holiday with us, they have rented a villa near where my DB1 lives. I went to see her y/day and there are clothes all over the place, so hopefully I'll takle the packing and make space for them to walk through the room.
I must vacume here and clean all bedrooms as my DM and her OH are coming to stay the day we fly home, bad timimg I know but DM said "oh we don't mind " Thanks Mum !!
SNOWYOWL, Ofcourse I remember you, good to see you posting again. I have also been awol for a while now.

Hope it's a good day for all.

    Good Morning All

No rain here :j mind you I said that yesterday and within half an hour the sky had turned black & it rained more or less all day!

Today is running around day, need to drop off DD at college, pop into town into the cheap shop then head off round my mums. Hope to hoover the downstairs and wash all floors before we go.

When out will pick up a french stick and we will have salady bits for dinner, Tuesday's are always difficult for dinner as everyone finishes at different time.

New kitten is being very good but today I need to leave him for quite a while :o hopefully will be ok.

Better get going, have a great day all.x

    Morning everyone

Love and hugs to those that are having a hard/sad time at the moment x

Dry, sunny, bright but some cloud in the sky here this morning. DH up and off to work stupid early.

Yesterday work was reasonably busy but was either all or nothing - but so many people in bad moods - nice way to start the week - not! Hopefully today will be better.

Dinner last night was ham and cheese kievs, chips and beans/veg for the menfolk and I had a mushroom omelette and salad. Tonight's dinner is using up LO's - eggs, bacon, sausage, pots/hash browns, mushrooms, etc.

Had a NSD yesterday and today should be the same.

Hugs to those that want/need them, keep safe and well x

    Good Morning x

I have been reading but not much OS as I have been stuck in bed for a few days. Hopefully feeling better now though.

I wondered if anyone had heard from ESMF? I remember she was struggling a little - Hope you ok x

Hester - hope you are not too busy at work x
Donny - well done on the weight loss :T
Marie - thinking of you x
Jools - hope you start to feel better today x

Well eldest son moved out last week and seems to be coping really well. They had roast lamb for dinner on Sunday so food doesnt seem to be an issue. They both did GCSE Food at school so it seems to be helpful now! Im not missing the drunken returns home nor associated issues (which I have written about in the past:eek:). I feel a load has been lifted off my shoulders - long may it last:j:j:j

Hugs hugs for a good day OS friends x
I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.

    Hey Up!
What am I doing up at this hour?

The sun is shining and don't know how long it will last so let's make the most of it.

My 'To-Do' list now fills a small volume and if I don't get a move on with it I won't be ready to go away on the 29th May until about July the third IYKWIM.

Oops. My computer is annoyed about being woken up so early and keeps going back to sleep again.

Soooo. Plans for today are cleaning the shower room and bathroom, making up the spare bed and cleaning spare room, doing at least 3 pots on the veranda, doing 3 pages of the church magazine, making a (large) dent in the ironing mountain, making cake for a coffee morning, starting to put some of my winter clothes away................
    are you still with me?

OK I'm off to kick start my system with a swift injection of caffeine.

    Have a good day yourselves.

    Morning all

Not posted on here for ages and ages and well, quite a while really.

Sun is shining nicely in this part of the world but I'm not fooled, it did this yesterday, I got a bit "sun kissed" in the morning but by late afternoon it was pouring down and I lit a fire.

Lots of naffness going on here at the moment with some huge uncertainties with our finances soi need to get stuck back into OS big time.

Started over the weekend and cooked up everything that needed using up so have a gammon pasta bake ready for this evening and a huge vat of veg soup for lunches this week.

Dd1 is now on study leave for her GCSEs so need to keep her motivated to revise and not sleep the time away (as is a teenagers want). DD2 is bumbling along in her own little way, she's so "blonde" at times, bless her.

We also seem to have gone from 2 cats to 6. Not as bad as it sounds as the 2 used to be so fussy with their food and lots was wasted, not no more! Theyve learnt to eat before someone else does and my cat food bill hasn't really increased. :T (rescue kittens so we couldn't resist)

So, I'm back, if you'll have me....

Meanmarie - so sorry to hear about your missing Kerry, but fingers crossed. I am thinking of you.

Rice for tea tonight. Not sure what with. OH is sick of mash, darling father won't eat pasta and little bear won't eat potatoes (can usually coax mash with gravy). I have a five year old who won't eat chips but who will eat (and love) sprouts. It could be worse.

    hugs to all

    Morning all!
Sitting in a sea of hankies, had to get up in case I don't hear the door, waiting for OH's new working trousers to be delivered, cheaper to order on-line, still about £60 a pair but he only gets a pair a year, if he gets cheaper ones the knees usually rip in a few weeks!
Plan for today is to do some holiday ironing and packing, in the hope that the steam will help the nose! Have a good day all!
