Hi
How does this car sound? Or does anyone have any viable alternatives? Thanks!

Sounds expensive for a 7 year old fairly basic spec golf0

Is it just me that thinks £4500 is a LOT of money for a 7 year old car?
In 2009 i paid just over £2000 for a 2004 mondeo diesel estate.
More miles than that but all the bills for work done since it was new and even small items attended to.
160,000 miles now. My mileage has shot up lately, Normally low mileage user.
I normally keep the cars for 5 years but this one may go sooner.
I may push it upto 200,000 ?Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
is it me or does the rear quarter panels look a slightly different colour to the car.
for the spec i'd want to pay around £3750-4000 for it even less if it hasnt got a FSH these engines are prone to water pump failure and a cambelt change and water pump would be done asap if it were me.0 -
Add a grand and buy a new car. 8 years old for that money!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks for all your replies people! Appreciate it. I need to upgrade my current car (a *ahem* Micra) and have a budget of about £4000 give or take £500. I only do about 5-7000 miles a year so not a lot.
I had whittled it down to a Golf but now you are all saying it seems expensive. However, most Golfs around that age seem to be that price!
I suggested a Focus to my wife but she doesn't like them. Now I'm thinking Seat - what do you think?0 -
if i had to be really picky i would say the two back door shuts look awfully tight0

They are no more reliable than most other makes, dont be fooled and they have some real stinker common problems on certain models.
The petrol models can need new coil packs literally every few months at £400 each
google VW coil pack problems, many have sold them after repeated bills.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -

Here's my story about a VW.
I saw a VW Polo, 2008 reg for £6990 at the VW garage.
Down the road at the Vauxhall garage I saw the 2011 Corsa for 7110. (Bare in mind that the price new was roughly the same)
VW's hold there value better. I'm not too sure why but they are dubbed to be decent cars by those in the 'know-how'
In addition, the Corsa may have had more spec than the Polo.
Whether you get the VW as when you sell it on it will have more value.
Therefore it depends on personal perference and circumstance.
Let's go on a quest together, and find out what really is so good about these VW's :rotfl:Save in 2013: #166: 9,122.51/[STRIKE]5,000[/STRIKE] 10,000Interest earned in 2014: £257.61 20/04/140 -
If you're looking at cars that age get a Skoda Octavia. It's basically a Golf that bigger, cheaper and more reliable.0
