Multiple Barclaycards

I currently have a Platinum Simplicity card with Barclays. The interest rate is 6.8% for the life of the card.

I want to get a 0% balance transfer and use one of their new products (Barclaycard Platinum - 0% BT for 17 months with 1.6% handling fee), but according to the website and the free eligibility checker on it, existing Barclaycard customers are not eligible.

I called customer services who seemed to think I could be eligible for the new product if I applied. I'd like to find out if anyone else has been successful with this before I have a go.

Any assistance gratefully received.

This may be slightly different but I had 2 at one point. One was a former Sky credit card which was moved to Barclaycard.

A few years later I applied for a Barclaycard Platinum 22 month BT card and was accepted despite having the other card. I later closed the original card.

You all need to read the OP's post which is having a simplicity card and wants to apply for a platinum card, not about people who have had Other credit cards which barclays have brought, like sky, Morgan Stanley, Egg etc.
Now I am pretty sure you CAN'T have a barclaycard simplicity & platinum together.
