Just one of those strange "traditions". supposedly started when King Edward VII got too fat to button up his waistcoats properly. The royal court copied him, presumably to avoid showing him up and it entered into fashion mythology.

I'd say if you're too fat to button it properly, leave it undone, citing tradition to cover said portliness; if you're not, button it properly like a waistcoat is intended to be.

Come on people, it's not difficult: lose means to be unable to find, loose means not being fixed in place. So if you have a hole in your pocket you might lose your loose change.

I hate seeing a bottom waist coat done up! Always undone, wedding or not in my opinion!

I was always under the impression that the bottom button on a waistcoat was never done up! I can remember my grampy and some other older uncles wearing them and the button was never done up! in fact I never button the bottom button on my cardie - must be some ingrained ettiquette there! and in fact waistcoats are designed this way and now look odd if you do the button up!
I have NEVER heard of this buttoning up the waistcoat AFTER the wedding! presumably the groom is not going to be thinking of his waiscoat while escorting his new missus down the aisle!

When I was getting my wedding suit a few years ago, the chap at the suit hire place specifically said that the bottom button should NEVER be done up.

If the waistcoat is double breasted, all the buttons are fastened. Not sure if it's true, but was told many years ago that waistcoats are cut for the best fit with an open bottom button.

The same used to be said for single breasted lounge suit jackets. From the top, the three buttons were fastened as, 'always, sometimes, never.'

You hate it? Seriously? Hate? #dramallama

Hatred (or hate) is a deep and emotional extreme dislike, directed against a certain object or class of objects. The objects of such hatred can vary widely, from inanimate objects to animals, oneself or other people, entire groups of people, people in general, existence, or the whole world. Though not necessarily, hatred is often associated with feelings of anger and disposition towards hostility against the objects of hatred. Hatred can drive oneself to extreme actions. Actions upon people or oneself after a lingering thought are not uncommon. Hatred can result in extreme behavior including violence, murder, and war.
