My friend had cupcakes for her wedding a couple of years ago (fun day the day before with a little production line icing them all!! :rotfl: ) and the icing was blue with little hearts to match her colour scheme and they took them round to all the guests so they go to chat to everyone whilst handing them out which was nice.
My SIL is making my cake as my wedding present as she works for a cake shop - so excited as she did my parents anniversary cake and it was soooooooo lovely, can't wait to see mine! :j0 -

Hi All Brides!
Cupcakes great idea.
Making your own wedding stationary is a lovely cost saving excersise. I got married nearly 5 years ago now and it only cost us £4500 for the entire day - some of our friends and family have got married since then and their costs have almost trippled ours. I made my own wedding stationary from simply buying some good quality (try conqueror) paper/card and envelopes, you can buy silver hearts etc to stick on and then run the paper through your printer to make the personal messages.
For cheap wedding favours you could try this new site www.wedding-tweaks.co.uk they are retailing a lot of popular wedding favours for much cheaper than other sites.....some of them look fab and very unusual/quirky!!
Photographs - you could always get your friends and family to take them throughout the day and then send them to a professional graphic designer to work wonders on afterwards. Professional Photography costs such a lot these days!
Flowers - they cant be that hard to put together! I am sure most brides have a creative friend who could buy some oasis and put table displays together for a fraction of the cost of professional florists!
Hope that helps,
Good luck

hi there, after paying through the nose for wedding flowers before i decide to help my friend with hers, in fact i did them all, she bought artificial flowers and wow did they look stunning, since then i have done another 6 weddings and all flowers have cost less than £200 for roughly 30 small table 30 button holes, brides flowers, 3 bridesmaids, 2 mother, and 3 top table arrangements, and doing it with artificial flowers means u can give thm away as gifts to the mother and bridesmaids and they will last forever!! fantastic!!!! im off to college to do florestry in sept i love working with flowers, so guys n girls give me a quick email if u want to c pics or even talk about doing yours, it shouldnt cost the earth, i do because i love it, not for the money

I did mine was £235 and £30 to take it up - I was told it was worth £1400 so I was very pleased. Bridesmaids dresses were £40 each - but if in doubt eBay as there will be loads of bargains there. Congratuations and good luck!!
Hi Ladies,
I'm new to the site but noticed that blue monkey had said she got her bridesmaid dresses for £40! Could you possibly tell me where from or if anyone else has managed to get them at or around this price and where from
Thanks again
