Weddings are traditionally supposed to be expensive, but these days you can get every kind of wedding favor you could imagine for pretty cheap.(except anything gilded!) usually all it takes is some careful searching online. forums like this are great cause people will help you find the best deals.

See if you can go to a sample sale to buy a dress as they are often a lot cheaper than the usual cost.

Hi having planned my own wedding last year for £5000 I have been thinking about setting up a wedding planning company that specialises in creating brilliant weddings on a budget. I was just wondering if anyone would find this sort of a service useful as it can take a lot of time to source things on the cheap?

    Good Morning

My stunning dress for my wedding next year cost the princely sum of £21 on E bay. Even paying £40 for cleaning that comes in at under £100.

Veil was £3 and headress an extortionate by comparisson £38.

Daughters bridesmaid dress £16 currently £110 in Debenhams.

Have also found favour boxes and favours on there very cheaply.

    Adult Son's dinner suit £31

    - truly an E bay wedding!!

If you are looking for a civil ceremony, have it in a register office rather than have the registrar come out to another venue - the difference between the two costs are huge (couple of hundred pounds). Also look at having the ceremony mid-week rather than on a saturday (we were given a 25% discount for booking on a weekday), but check to see if reception venues have minimum numbers of guests before you book, as you may find you have to pay for more guests than you planned to have!

I assume that you & your fiance are not living together, as doing so will impact on any student finance assessment (based on household income & threshold for assistance is now approx £60k).

Love the idea of the plants ;) just wish I had a garden!

dont know what day your getting married on but if its a friday and theres a wedding on the sat ask what there colour scheme is and you coul go holves on the flowers. we did it and it saved us about 200 quid! also we had scratch cards for favours, went down well. have a great day though, everyone will enjoy it no matter what!

Hi, just thought I might lend a helping hand. I run a wedding favour business, personalised chocolate. They are of a high quality for very little outlay and I have just posted a money saving code on the forum too. A friend of mine who does wedding cakes say I charge too cheaply for them however my philosophy is that I do o.k and I don't want to rip people off and so many people as soon as you say "wedding" add about 150% on to the cost of whatever it is you are after. Obviously just a suggestion, I know a lot of people don't bother with favours.
