Absolutely the right thing to do.

This is a known scam, you have saved yoruself a lot of hassle and expense by picking it up as fraud.

Definitely report this to ebay urgently so they can stop the bidder riipping off someone else who might not see it as a fraud. If you can get the buyer NARUD you can get your FInal Value fees back immediately, otherwise you can't start the process for 7 days and it takes a further 7 days until you get your FVFs back.

You've lost your listing fees though unfortunately.

  • It is a scam. I have been trying to buy a Lambretta off ebay for some time now. Quite a number are putting "relisted due to nigerian scammer - all bids from nigeria etc will be removed". I have heard this is happening with a variety of high value goods,

Yup, I've just received some very similar e-mails regarding the laptop I'm currently selling. This one wants me to post urgently to Nigeria (via UPS). Was 'willing' to pay me well over what I would expect it to sell for. I told him if he bids that amount before the end of the auction he will win it fairly and squarely and will receive it just as quickly as he would if I ended the auction early and sold it directly to him and, oddly enough, he's not responded. He also has no feedback history whatsoever. I've blocked his user id to (hopefully) prevent him from sniping my auction at the death and wasting my fees.

Don't trust any e-mails/bids from Nigeria unless they are supported by a decent history (at least a year) of positive feedback.

ok then, i will report to ebay and then inform the buyer that i do not ship to nigeria. thanks for all your advice.

These idiots give me so many problems with my mobile phone listings. I even list that bids from Nigeria or asking for delivery to same will be cancelled, yet they persist in emailing me "private" offers!!

Isn't that a bit racist putting black people photo?

To be honest I think it is some shameful people who do it rather than anyone has anything to do with Nigeria..

I would think the majority of people in Nigeria are indeed black so how can it be racist ??

Rumour has it that the scams (419, advance fee, dud cheques, etc) are Nigerias 4th (yes fourth!!!) largest form of overseas income ...so little wonder that the Nigerian government does so little to close the scammers down.
