Is still a scam? How does it work? Surely I am safe if I receive cash in my account? Is it wise to give him my name and address at this point? Many thanks for your advice.

Wouldn't touch it with a barge pole.
If he pays cash into your bank account you'll have to give him your account details - BIG MISTAKE.
I wouldn't waste any more time - just refer him back to the conditions of yur sale - UK only - leave it a couple of days and relist.0 -
SCAM DEFO sounds very much a variation of the ppp-powerbook scam, report him and also do a non payment thingy to get your listing fees back, state that you have stated the payment methods and bidpay wasnt one of them and remember do not send it until u have the money regardless of how urgently the buyer wants it.ummm...0

Thanks for your reply, right now he only wants my name and address. Also, what is the worst that can happen if he had my account details? As far as I am aware he can only pay money in, not withdraw.0 -
Yeah - why does he want your address too? I think not - v suspicious. Like everyone else says you clearly stated your terms which he has not adhered to."It was not my intention to do this in front of you. For that, I'm sorry. But you can take my word for it, your mother had it comin'."

This is 100% scam, you will be asked to ship the item once the payment confirmation email is received at this time you will have received no money the buyer will arrange collection from your address, I suggest you wrap a few ceramic floor tiles very carefully and let him foot the bill for the postage as that is the only payment he intends to make.
Be warned if you send the laptop you will lose it!
YOU won't receive a penny from the vendor!
Ebay will still charge you the final value fee!
The only payment this buyer will make is to the shipping agent because he thinks he will be getting a laptop for the price of shipping only!
So bite back and arrange the deal and send him some sh*tty old floor tiles to teach him a lesson!Four guns yet only one trigger prepare for a volley.Together we can make a difference.0 -

hi there, thanks for your reply. what you are saying is that UPS will turn up on my doorstep on tuesday (paid for by the buyer) and collect my laptop. but at that point he still has not paid me yet (and doesn't intend to), giving some excuse like he will pay me at some point. and what you are suggesting is just to put some heavy useless item inside ... fight fire with fire! hmm ... will i be charged by UPS?
Ebay has charged me final value fee anyway as this has gone down as a `successful' auction.0 -
It's a scam, don't touch it with a bardge pole unless you fancy winding this guy up.typing00 wrote:Ebay has charged me final value fee anyway as this has gone down as a `successful' auction.
Unless he pays you under your terms then he is a Non Paying Bidder and you can raise a NPB with ebay and get your Final Value Fees back.0 -
ok then, i will report to ebay and then inform the buyer that i do not ship to nigeria. thanks for all your advice.0
-
just ignore any more contact from the buyer, start a non paying bidder with ebay.
cant understand why you even gave it ANY thought at all.
i wouldnt waste another second on ANYTHING to do with the buyer.0
