I bought mine in Spain so my mum and I spent the day trawling around the city looking in different bridal shops. Most were the huge meringue types but eventually I found a gorgeous one.

Wow, nothing like a bit of stereotyping eh?

p.s. how would you know what the bridal shops are full of if you didn't go into one? ;)

I was chief bridesmaid at my cousin's wedding and I went to every one of the 10 shops she visited. The staff were all snooty and my cousin was miserable.

My point was actually that you don't need to follow the 'stereotypical' option, but could be more creative and original...

Well, of course you can. I bought a Monsoon dress from eBay as a 'back up' in case I didn't find The One in the shops. I also considered having a DM make one that I'd seen in a blog.

I just thought that your comment was a little harsh. Maybe you and your cousin were just very unlucky, most of the staff in the shops that I visited were lovely.

16 months isn't actually long, I know plenty of people who have bought theirs up to 2/3 years in advance. My rationale behind this is that it gives me time to hang out for a sample or preloved version of whatever dress I choose :).

    I salute you :) I'd get bored of mine....lol
