How many shops to visit?

I wondered how many wedding dress shops you visited during your dress hunt? I don't want to limit myself but I also don't want to end up over whelmed and confused
I have another two appointments booked but none of them stock Maggies/Alfred Angelos and they were the big two I thought would be worth looking at......
I loved the first dress I tried on and think it will be a real contender but I think I am worried there might be something more 'wow'....where do you draw the line?

I think my sisters went to about five or six wedding dress shops - they both found 'the one' in the first shop (and incidentally the same shop!) but like you wanted to make sure that was definitely it and there wasn't anything out there they really loved.
Have you had a look at any Maggie Sottero/Alfred Angelo ones online to see if there's any you like? I know Maggie has a website with the designs on it, and the websites should also have lists of stockists in your area..."A mind needs books as a sword needs a whetstone, if it is to keep its edge." - Tyrion LannisterMarried my best friend 1st November 2014Loose = the opposite of tight (eg "These trousers feel a little loose")Lose = the opposite of find/gain (eg "I'm going to lose weight this year")0 -
I just went to the one shop but tried on about 20 dresses. I went to that particular shop because they had one specific dress that i saw and loved but they didnt have it in at the time so i tried on something very very similar and it didnt suit me so i just carried on looking and found 'the one' there so didnt bother going elsewhere xxx
I wore a maggie btw i think her dresses are amazing!! It was one of her dresses i originally wanted but luckily the one i chose in the end was also a maggie

I went to 3 different shops all in the same day. Found one I liked in the second, but one I loved in the third. I'm not one for procrastinating so ordered it there and then.0

Thanks for the input

I only visited one shop the first time round and ended up ordering a dress but I don't remember ever being bowled over by it, although I do know I really liked it.
The dress that is stuck in my head that the moment was in a champagne colour but their other store have it in ivory which is one of the reasons I want to go there and try it on again (also because my mum wasn't there for this appointment).
There is a shop in my hometown that stocks Maggie so I think I will do that one, plus the two I have booked and then see how I feel :rotfl:

I went to one bridal shop, one bespoke maker, and Monsoon.
Then my mate offered to make my dress.0 -
My wife only went to one, saw the dress she wanted and put the deposit down there and then. Very efficient

I went to 3 shops....
A popular chain shop - I hated the customer service. Very much a do what you like and come back to me when you've picked what you want to try on.
An outlet shop - Great if you already know what you're looking for.
A very busy independent shop. 'Maggie Sottero' and 'Sottero and Midgley' Stockist. - Loved this shop. It was a whole different experience. I was treated like royalty and tried on lots of dresses. More of describe what you like and they bring you suggestions and if you're not sure, they recommended shapes and styles that would suit your figure until you find one you like.We drank lots of bucks fizz and found my dream dress. What matters most is how well you walk through the fire0 -

We are going away at the end of June so I thought I would try and get 4/5 appointments leading up to holiday and then have 2 weeks to narrow it down while I have a clear head!

I only went to two (in the same day). In the first shop I hardly tried on any (3 I think), in the second shop I tried on loads (8-10ish I think), then after the second shop mum and I went back to the first shop and placed an order for my wedding dress.
