O2 Change in tariff

I went in to my local O2 store last Thursday to upgrade my phones. The phones I wanted were ona free handset offer but werent in stock so they put in a order saying that 'hopefully' they would be in the next day. When I phoned on Friday I was told that they hadnt come in so a new order would be put in today for delivery tomorrow.
This morning I got a call saying the phones had arrived but there had been a change to the tariff on Saturday and the phones would now cost me £120!
I've never come across this before where a customer has to pay extra because the company doesnt have stock. Is this normal practice??

Until a contract is formed between you and the supplier, the supplier can change its prices at will. If you ordered the goods at a specific price, then the price forms part of the contract. However, if O2 merely ordered more stock from its warehouse (without an order from you), then it is free to sell that stock at whatever price it wishes.0

Thanks NFH,
They filled out a form saying what tariff I wanted with it but it I wasn't asked to sign anything.
Down to experience I guess but I'm still rather peeved with it!0 -
It's a bit cheeky, I'd ask them to honour the original price or just go elsewhere. There are loads of deals available now, online seems to be the best combined with cashback etc.0
