Thats strange  Andrea, Never had a prob with my ntlworld email, Ive never had one !!!!!! email, (must smell ;)). ??? I use Norton and Ad-aware, get more pop ups from MSN !

    Regards Scat,
Glad Dudley was reet good ;), see you in Holland?  ;)

I removed ad-aware as  norton and mcafee and others don't recommend it as it gets rid of ads but reports your internet usage, a little spy with in its self.

funny subject but there are a few steps to take

firstly there are firms that sell your details to any idiot who will buy it. sometimes they make them up as any possible combination that may exist.

get a proprer email address - a private one - book a domain and only allow mail to a certain address before the @.

keep changing the free isp address - as many isp sell your details on - BT are one of the worst for this.

beware of mail washer progs - free ones are the worst as again they profit from selling your details.

make sure you ahve the right anti virus and spy bot progs on your machine

adaware is essential - and run it daily
a good firewall is a must

get a good antivirus system - often the free ones are better than the paid for ones

finally - once your deatils are given to a !!!!!! site they will just duplicate em to others.

have 2 email addresses - noe for genuine contacts and one for stuff your not sure about - and change it every month

Im with aol, get tons of spam but theyre all to offer me a degree or one million dollars all i have to do is claim it

    never ever any !!!!!!!!

not even had the offer of a big willy lately

I have never ever looked at a !!!!!! site or searched one

    do you think its that???

or do you think they know me and know I would not be best pleased??

a friend of mine pensioner lady who says "hells bells" when she is really really fired up, looked for "dolls house" for her grandaughter and was horrified to find that most of the ones that came up were !!!!!! sites

so then she looked for "winnie the pooh" and that was even worse

that reminds me of when I looked for

extra large womens. (thinking clothes as i was inexperienced then)

    eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeekkkkk

Ok, for you all - some reasons as to why you get !!!!!! e-mails...

The spam computers now make up e-mail addresses ie. they have a list of all initials, common forenames and surnames and randomly make up an e-mail address with a common domain ie. 'j.smith@hotmail.com'. If the address doesn't work it bounces back so the computer who sent it will know not to send one to that address again.

If the address does work, (this bit is sneaky!!) it uses a flaw in most e-mail programs that have a preview of the mail (Outlook, Outlook expess etc) and includes a microscopic picture file with a filename unique to your e-mail address (ie 2h23jb245l25ih5.jpg) within the e-mail. When the autopreview asks the spammers computer for the picture file then BAM!! It knows you exist and will e-mail you for ever more!

    Nasty or what!

These few tips may help to stop these spammers:

    1. Use a less common E-Mail provider than the ubiquitous HOTMAIL, YAHOO etc.

    2. When you create an new E-Mail address you should always say that you want no advertisng material and do not want to be included in any directory.

    3. When posting on sites (including this one) either do so as I guest and use an invlaid E-Mail address or, if you do register, use a second E-Mail address that you can 'ditch' should you get spammed!

    4. Never use your real name for either your displayed name or user name - otherwise some moron may attempt to contact you in ways other than E-mail!
