Amazon Credit Card Charge - Is the law on their side?

How, exactly?
No knowing which day or how much is going out of your account.
It's particualrly confusing if you want to make an extra payment.
Depending on the timescale the payment MAY or may NOT be deducted from your DD.
On the whole I think DDs are good, but I understand the argument.
Although people that don't take them have to accept FULL responsibility for missing/late payments.0 -
Has anyone had an opinion by the Financial Ombudsman on this? With any other debt, a cash payment or instant electronic funds transfer would count as settlement. A court would find it unreasonable for a bailiff to chase a debit that had been paid and the balif couldn't check it had been paid this because its office wasn't open. The credit cards system works in real time but the online account management doesn't - they can ring your phone while your stood (supposed to be) at a till using the card or go through a list of recent transactions when ID'ing you on the phone for security.
Although the statement has the due date on the front, its only in the small print does it have the due time.0
