you would think this would be a fairly quick issue to resolve. Keep us informed.

  • Got word on Friday, Not the result i had hoped for but i am happy that the complaint has been dealt with correctly.

I have accepted the terms of paying a fee on about three or four different documents. All of which i just signed in trust of a verbal discusion on the document. I have learnt that in future i MUST read it fully before just signing up to things. The disputes team have explained in good depth the reasons for the result they have come to. I have had a small good result as the broker has to pay me a sum back as they have overcharged me.

As i niave 18 year old to have one small problem from all the potential problems i could have had back then with no Mortgage or finance experience i suppose in a way i wasn't as unlucky as i could have been.
At 21 now i have recently had a much better result with arranging my most recent mortgage and i know i don't have any nasty suprises waiting around the corner on this one! (Mostly thanks to this site)

Although i lost, at least i tried and in trying i have understood were i went wrong and how to avoid such problems in the future. Thanks to all advice given.

Thats a shame. The fee agreement you signed was the killer. Although the FOS may still rule in your favour if the amount was not specified and they are trying to claim the full amount. Clawbacks reduce as time passes.

I would say never agree to a clawback agreement. No decent adviser would include that in their terms.

The amount was specified. And commision amounts were also specified so thats how i've managed to be owed a sum. Like i said above i just signed things after a discussion about the documents rather than reading them myself so i never knew what i'd agreed to (me = idiot!)

Thanks again for all your helpfull advice..... Hopefully shouldn't see myself in this position again.
