OS daily Monday 14th May Hi, this is the Daily Thread for 14th May. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in,put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.
Morning everyone
Love and hugs to those that are having a hard/sad time at the moment x
Raining again, started in the night, so very wet underfoot everywhere again. DH up and off to work stupid early.
Excellent weekend, London was sunny and warm; cooked dinner for our friends Friday night - all eaten and enjoyed with a couple of bottles of red wine, after pre-dinner gin and tonics. Menfolk went off to their meeting on Saturday morning and we went in to London a while after, strolled along Regent Street and then into Oxford Street - did partake of some retail therapy - bought some of the make up that I use and there was an offer on so got a lovely free gift. We met the menfolk after their meeting and went for a stroll along the embankment - was busy but not horrendously so watched the street entertainers etc, found a pub/cafe and had a couple of drinks - then walked along a bit further and found a nice Italian and had some dinner - food was delicious - then caught the train back to where we were staying. Was so lovely to have some chilled adult time relaxing in the sunshine. Back to earth with a bump today - back to work! Not so bad as we have another bank holiday shortly and half term so then we're taking the boys to the same site in London and taking them to do the sites, museums etc - hope the weather is kind then too!
Did manage to get a couple of loads in the WM yesterday when we got back, but it's raining this morning and the first lot is still damp on the airer so hopefully by tonight that will be dry and I can get the next lot dry. Dinner tonight will be cheese and ham kievs/omlette, chips/jacket pot, beans/salad. Have a few bits that need using up so will address this tonight.
Hugs to those that want/need them, keep safe and well x

I've been busy this morning making choc chip cookies. Have a couple of friends coming round this morning and realised I had nothing to offer them  anyway they are baking and cooling but generally I'd rather not be baking on a school morning :rotfl:
Plans toda are to drink coffee and natter and if I am lucky clean the lounge :rotfl:
Tea is cous cous patties with salad.
Hugs and spoons all round xxI have a gift for enraging people, but if I ever bore you it'll be with a knifeLouise Brooks

Have a terrible cold, throat is on fire, coughing non stop, coughed so much last night at work I was sick, so have taken today off as time owed, so thats me on holiday! Need to shift the snot before Friday. WM is on, although its sunny, windy and raining all at once here so probably not going out to dry. Today will do some holiday ironing, the steam might help the tubes!
Have a good day all!RIP Iain

Greetings everyone:beer:
Been raining and thundering up a storm...those-who-know-about-these-things are broadcasting a widespread weather warning, so that's something to look forward to...
I have cheese scones cooling on the rack(they may be down one already, but shush;) ), and have just finished pinning and ironing the curtain I'm making for the kitchen. The present one that was there on move-in is a ratty net curtain that's been (badly) hacked to fit, and is entirely unsuitable for winter. I picked up some green thermal curtain material with a yellow diamond inside a beige/grey square pattern for $1.50(...I don't know, about 75p in british?) that tones with the front door and the lounge from the recycling shop at the local dump. Also managed to pick up a new(old) cat carrier that just needs a clean, as the cat can stick her head out of the hole in the other one and I'm afraid of her strangling herself.
The dehydrator is whirring away in the background drying mushrooms, carrots and as an experiment, a little fresh ginger. I hope that the ginger doesn't contaminate the mushrooms.0 -
Good Morning All
Sunny here at the moment yay. Late posting as DD missed her bus so I had to take her to the station, not too much of a problem.
Lots to do today, office this morning, ironing this afternoon. Probably need to go out mid pm to pick up DD then again to pick up DS as we didn't get his haircut yesterday so need to do today.
Washing in the machine, DW emptied just need to wipe the kitchen down then will get on with the paperwork.
Nice and easy egg, ham & chips for dinner tonight.
Cleggie - good luck with NSD!
Have a great day all.x0 -
Morning all
Oh poo! The rain has come back again. Am absolutely exhausted today as spent the weekend rushing around like a mad thing getting all the outside jobs /washing line-dried done.
My, am I paying for it this morning. The golden rule of RA is 'pace yourself':rotfl:That might work in a hot country but not in our rainy paradise! Luckily, I don't work on a Monday so will be doing absolutely nothing at all today except a bit of reading, a bit of knitting, a spot of Come Dine and Neighbours and something easy for dinner.
Having said that, I am just off out in a mo to collect DD from school and take her to the ortho but it will only take 1/2 hour or so. We are nearing the end of the (train) track now (see what I did there:T) and she will be glad to get the braces off now.
Have a good day all

Morning All
Sun here in Hastings. Had a lovely day yesterday with my friend Helen. Spent too much in the garden centre (Including two pairs of sandals in the Pavers shop:rotfl:) Got four baskets of geraniums now, they look very healthy, hope they grow well.
Being taken out for lunch today too by another friend who missed my birthday.
DD and DGD are going strawberry picking today, so should have some later!

Morning :hello:
Dull and grey here atm, though the rain has stopped. I hope it holds off, I want to tie up the peas today and I'm not doing it in the rain. The toms need taller canes too, that's not so bad cos they're in the greenhouses.
Chickens are cleaned out, the washing is on and the kitchen is gleaming. The carpet is filthy though, we fitted it then decided to do some work in the hall which involved traipsing through the kitchen to the garden. Must get that cleaned, it looks awful. Been like it for a few months
The trus have gone potato mad lately, the favourite seems to be potato salad. I'm making it two or three times a week, my pot of chives in the garden is nearly gone, I'll have to buy more seeds.
I haven't limped for almost two days :jToday I'm going to plan my week, I need more of a routine. I'm going to plan it as if I'm working, then when I finally get a job I'll be super organised. Well that's the theory anyway, lol.
First things first - I'm off for a shower and then I'll be making potato saladBulletproof0
