Decorating a young mans room

Well my young son has pretty much outgrown his first bed. He is now 9 years old and I have gone out and bought him an adult size single bed. He is chuffed to bits with it.
I want to buy him a new wardrobe, bedside chest and desk as he is a studious little fella and wants space to get on with his homework
. His bed is a basic silver framed one. I am looking for white furniture preferably and wondered if any of you lovely people have recently purchased similar and could recommend a company. It is always nice to get some feedback from people when looking at big purchases like these.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions

The best day of your life is the one on which you decide your life is your own, no apologies or excuses. No one to lean on, rely on or blame. The gift is yours - it is an amazing journey - and you alone are responsible for the quality of it. This is the day your life really begins.

I can't recommend a company but wondered if you were aware of just how much good furniture comes up on freecycle - which saves it going to landfill and could be a good stopgap - my local has had brand new desks this week, at least twoYou never know how far-reaching something good, that you may do or say today, may affect the lives of others tomorrow0

I don't know what sort of budget you have but I have bought a lot of furniture, including for the kids bedrooms, from marks and Spencer's. I have found it to be extremely well made and quite reasonable for a good quality piece of furniture.
They often have a sale on furniture so I always make sure I buy anything I need then!0 -
That sounds lovely. Depends what you want to spend. I like Ikea for sturdy furniture at reasonable prices.0

I second this! I got a great big study desk with plenty of space for my laptop, printer and books etc at Ikea with a great big comfy matching swivel chair."Isn't it enough to see that a garden is beautiful without having to believe that there are fairies at the bottom of it too?" (Douglas Adams)0 -
Have a look at Ikea for funky but functional furniture

Thank you all so much for this advice. I hadn't thought of M&S or Ikea but I am sure they would be great. Will have a look at their online stuff and see what they have. The only company I am wary of is John Lewis as they completely messed up the order for my sons nursery furniture years ago.The best day of your life is the one on which you decide your life is your own, no apologies or excuses. we were at Ikea yesterday - theres a fair bit of white furniture in their bedroom and office ranges at the moment (DD is looking at a new white bed from there).0

I would also recommend Ikea. All my bedroom furniture has been bought there and I find it good quality and very well priced. The loopy one has gone :j0

I bought both my boys bedroom furniture from Ikea and have found it to be very good.
The chest of drawers are much deeper and roomier than any others I have seen and the desks are great, you buy the top you want and then you can choose from a huge assortment of legs the same goes for the chairs.
They also have some lovely novelty furniture that is functional as well eg a locker style cupboard and drawer unit.1 Sealed Pot Challenge # 1480
