Presumably he is using eBay as a shop window and wants people to contact him to strike a deal.

Always something on ebay to annoy you or make you think, Thats strange.

Ebay is like any other advert, I want to haggle over the price.

After an expensive machine, One popped up on ebay i sent a message to the seller, Does he have a BIN price or will the listing run to the end.

Reply back the listing will run. No problem, His choice. I have a figure in mind, I know its very very local so collection not going to cost me much.

Strange that 1 hour ago a brand new member joins and bids 3 times. Now makes me think a bit of shill bidding here.
Especially as the seller is advertising for a mate yet has several of some items for sale.

Def looks like a dealer to me. But if the price is right then i will be bidding, Im not going to lose a potential bargain. Just because it might be fishy.

Final price decides, But im now thinking £50 less than my original bid was going to be.

Why don't you just ignore his listings and get on with your life? Does it really bother you that much, he will tell you the postage if you simply ask him. If you don't want to ask him then leave him alone.

You missed post #9 then where I said I have asked him and he has not replied. Why am I bothered? Because I want what he has and it is the only one available on Ebay. And I am bothered when people break rules on Ebay and when Ebay does nothing about broken rules. And I have a valid point that Ebay should have a "report seller" option if the seller has lots of rule flouting listings, we can't be expected to report every listing they have. And I have/had a genuine concern that he is/was luring bidders in with 0.01 starting price and when they win hit them with a huge postage fee. I am the sort of person who tries to stop con men from getting away this sort of thing, I thought people here would have been of the same opinion. and be able to help.

Latest update he has removed all 350 listings which were due to complete tonight some had bids others had none. It's possible it was a genuine mistake and he did not realise he had not put postage info, I can't believe after a week on 350 desirable items I was the ONLY person to ask him about postage...... But anyway I did tell him in my message that I could not see any postage info and I could not see any postage on all 350 of his listings....
He has not replied but he has removed all the listings. If it was because I told him of a mistake he might have said "thank you"!
It's also possible that he was just trying to get people to phone him to buy off ebay, and he had no intention of shilling because he had no intention of allowing any of the listings to run to completion.

I find it astonishing that sellers can request buyers to contact them before bidding otherwise their bid will be deleted by seller. Ebay is supposed to be in control of it's users and be the judge as to who is not fit to buy on Ebay (i.e close peoples accounts), A complaint should be made and the if upheld Ebay should reprimand the buyer. It should not be for a seller to make some arbitrary decision that a particular bidder is not genuine when they know nothing about them and they have been authorised by Ebay to bid on the site.

Agreed, most likely as soon as you make contact they will try and make a deal outside ebay.
  • What kind of phone number is it?

Could be a scam - you call a premium rate number.

Well he's back with 300 items all without postage specified, all 1pence

All will be withdrawn a few hours before completion. which is 9 days away this time.

All with his phone number to "contact him before bidding".

And there's no way to report "a seller" only individual listings, way to go Ebay! making it as difficult as possible.

I cant help but think you are getting far too concerned over someone elses life.

Leave him/her alone and get a life of your own.

    Phone ebay?

Might be worth recording the call if you get the idiot i spoke to once.

I reported a big scam, Phoned and the guy i spoke to said he cant see anything wrong. Didnt surprise me it took him 4 attempts to get to the listing.

I gave up on him did a few report items and left it at that. Listings still going 3 days later, Then the Negatives started rolling in.

Must have cost Ebay/Paypal a fortune. Probably why they restrict some sellers and make them wait for feedback or so many days before they can withdraw money.
