Do you need passport number when booking wiith Ryanair?

My daughter has been asked to go away with a friend and her family. We are about to get her passport renewed but the family would like to book some flights now with Ryanair. Will they need a passport number at this stage or when they check in on-line?

    The horses mouth http://www.ryanair.com/en/questions/what-passenger-information-is-required

    and http://www.ryanair.com/en/questions/when-can-i-check-in-online

Many destination countries also have requirements for minors not travelling with their parents/guardians, so worth double checking what these may be if applicable.

  • Just about to book a stag do to Tallinn in Estonia, but one of us is without a valid passport - he has plenty of time before we go, to renew it though.
The flight's with Ryanair and to book on-line I was directed to Edreams, whose booking page had the mandatory fields: "passport number" & "expiry date".
So I rang Edreams (0844 no. - 40p/m on Orange monthly) and within 2 mins. of dialing had been told to invent a number & exp. date, as we would have to re-enter the same info. to check-in on-line.
I checked there would be no charge for doing this and there wouldn't.
    So there you go.
In theory should be the same who-ever you book with, with respect to the whole on-line check-in / e-ticket thing; best to always check though - don't just take my word for it...

    This is last year's thread.

I've booked many Ryanair flights, latest was last month.
You don't need a passport no on booking, only for checking in. That could be few hours before your flight. Remember, you need to check in and print your boarding pass before you go to the airport.

Never heard of Edreams. Why don't you book it on Ryanair's website?

eDreams is the first one that comes up when you Google for Ryanair.
Avoid and use the official Ryanair site!
    Normal people worry me.
