How many clothes does a woman need. Enough to fill three wardrobes, two chest of drawers, bits under the bed, the shoe cupboard. Anywhere that has a hanger.
If anyone comes up with the answer, I will personally supply them with every woman's favourite, chocolate for life.

I've been trying to rationalise my wardrobe too. I have a post about it on my homepage and found Project 333 inspiring (amongst other things!). I am currently trying out a working wardrobe of 33 items and a casual wardrobe of 33 items!
I'm doing Project 333 at the minute. I had a massive clear out and only had 48 items of clothing anyway (but thought I needed a few more things). Project 333 has been great, I was tested more than I thought choosing 33 items including accessories and stuff but so far it's been great. Wandering off topic slightly.0 -

OMG just quickly gone to tights drawer.......have 73 pairs of tights.
I'd need a skip if that's just tights.
I also have 12 duvet sets (just for me , 1 bed flat)....have a bit of a duvet set obssession at the moment though......it will pass in time.
This is a bit rediculous though joking aside and should look at exactly what I do have.
I want your tights.
I have hardly bought a pair of tights since i left london, a few pairs of winter tights is all. But, i use tights a lot in the garden, they make great ties for things, as they are soft enough not to cut in to frigile stems. I am now running out of tights and few of my firneds wear them so i have limited people to scrounge from!......:o0 -
I also have too many clothes. When i got ill my weight balloned, and i really do not want to throw away my old cloths because i hope one day i will get well and lose weight and they will fit me again. I don't have photographs, my memories are usually connected to clothes....
I also have things i wear less than once a year and are still useful, things for weddings, or evening events, with the same people so don't want to keep just one dress for these. I know longer need formal day wear, but. Keep something suitable for funerals or a formal occasion, just in case.
But, i do reuse things, and even when they are long past their best. E.g. Dmaged or stained evening clothes go into a basket of 'house clothes' kept for doing stuff about the house in and 'slobbing' or ' lounging'. By most worn thing in the evening is an old black evening gown with a bleach stain (don't do your housework in your evening clothes before putting in a house clothes drawer!) and a hole from getting a heel caught in it. I have found it works better for me with ski socks, slippers and a sloppy joe sweat short or big cardi for curling up on the sofa in the evening.
In my house slobby barbie has the biggest section of clothes too. I walk the dogs and do animals outside in teacksuits or fleece pjs. I have not found anything that washes and dries as well as fleece, nor that can be layered as well under a tracksuit in colder weather. My house has no heating, so simply keeping a few doesn't cut it, besides which, don't want to run half loads in the machine. I have about seven pairs of such trousers, fleece pjs or tracksuits, and tbh, fourteen might be better, i still manage to have days when they have all been worn yet not washed or dries, sometimes you see, i get wet or dirty and have to change them a few times in a day.
E.g. This mornign i did station run and am doing housework now, animals later, so tracksuit trousers, longsleeved t and jumper are not things i like to be seen in, but are warm, washable and easy. When i have done the dirty jobs for the animals is easier. The spring, but will want to change after that, so will do it before changing for the evening, but in the winter, and up until this weekend, might be needing to change three, maybe four, times a day.0 -
Smug me has a small capsule wardrobe of items that I wear.
Not-so-smug me has 2 wardrobes full of decent clothes I can't get into anymore but can't bring myself to get rid off in the hope I will eventually lose weight again.
And the only reason I have such a small capsule wardrobe tight now is the fact I refuse to buy anymore clothes in this size.Herman - MP for all!0 -
I've just had a big wardrobe clearout and sold most of it on eBay, there is still a very full wardrove though! I also love the charity shops for clothes, I buy them wear them for a year or so then sell them so have monies for new clothes. I mostly wear leggins and those long dress style tops over the top and then a cardigan as I also expand over the day as everything I eat makes me bloat so leggins are the most comfortable!0

Best tip i had was have a clear out of anything i knew i definitely wouldn't wear then re-hang every thing in the wardrobe with the hangers pointing in the same direction one you've worn and washed something hang it back up with the hanger the opposit way in 12 months any clothes left hanging in the first position bag up and charity shop if you haven't worn it in 12 months it's highly unlikely you ever will, i hope that makes sense...least I know what im going on about0

I am aiming to have a capsule wardrobe and would love to get to the point where I could list all my clothes from memory. I have a Parisienne friend who has the classic chic French woman's capsule wardrobe. She has a tiny collection of good-quality clothes and many of them can be worn with each other. Her clothes collection is absolutely tiny compared to some, but she always looks amazing. I am trying to learn from her. One thing I have to do (besides declutter) is to think about the rest of my wardrobe when I buy an item of clothing. I do tend to pick something because I like it and then realise that I have nothing I can wear with it.0

LOSTRINATES ! I have really whacky picture of you in my head with your evening gown etc on.........fabulous. :rotfl:
Not sure whether I dare have a look at 'shoe-barbie' section......as against advice I know I will try them all on.....which will take hours.......and that's just shoes , not boots or trainers,or flip-flops (have a feeling may have 20 plus flip-flops.
If I go for the shoes it will be a while before I'm back.....may even get lost in shoe cupboard...I should probably take a biscuit with me to follow the crumbs to get back out.Yep...still at it, working out how to retire early.:D....... Going to have to rethink that scenario as have been screwed over by the company. A work in progress.0
