Is it a bad thing to have loads of clothes?? As long as they all fit what does it matter?

I like a wide choice and like not to have to do my washing really frequently. I occasionaly work 14days in a row and won't get a chance to do my laundry so i need at least 14 outfits (plus spares)

Slobby house clothes i sling in the washer and don't iron so i don't need 14 sets often but i still like change then everyday (even if i've only worn for a few hours) plus i need differet options dependant on weather/plans etc.

Day off clothes normally just boild down to jeans and i'm happy to waer them a couple of days before washing with a clean top each day.

Drawers full of undies. I change pants often twice a day and a clean bra every day.

I like to do my washing when i have time not feel i have to because i have nothing to wear.

Read some of the minamalist links? Why would you want all your clothes to be one base colour?? What if you fancy a bright red day?
Very dull to be stuck with the same pallet of shades.
I'm currently sitting here at work in a very bight turqoiuse vest and shirt. I love it and the colour but its an item that i always get comments on so i can't wear it more than once or twice a month.

On the same note i went shopping today and bought 5 vest tops. No i already have about 10 identical vests but not in these colours. I know they fit and are comfy so why not have all the colours i can get?

Clothes should be fun; and i've built my collection up over a loooooong time why should i feel bad.
I'm so boring, my clothes wanna keep someone else warm, someone cooler

Mine isn't about capsule , mines is about I don't have things that I like or suit me that I can spring on for any occasion. I don't have going out items or a lots of smarter items. I need to clear out what I don't wear and work out where my gaps are.
I also need to think about what I am going to wear item with etc rather than spur of moment purchases. Also I need to clear out and well just smarten up a bit.

I agree if you wear them why not, it's just for many of us it's a bit wardrobe of things we don't sctually wear anymore... Never feel bad about gorgeous clothes...

No, it's not a bad thing to have, want or spend loads of cash on lots of clothes if that's what you want to do.

My clothes aren't all one base colour, I have some grey because I like it and it suits me but I also have orange, pink, purple, green, teal, turquoise, gold and multicoloured stuff. I love colour, I have a friend with 2 wardrobes full of clothes and they're all in shades of cream and beige, that's her thing.

As I don't particularly like shopping for clothes, I have interests that I'd rather spend my money on and I like to be able to mix and match outfits so I don't have to stand in front of my wardrobe spending time wondering what to wear.

For some people having fewer clothes would feel like a constraint for me it's freedom so I can just grab some clothes and get on with the things I enjoy in my day.

Big bag of things to the charity shop y-day so things that don't suit me may benefit someone else. A pile of coat hangers thrown into recycling too ( charity shop decline them). So that has tidied things up a good bit.
Means I can go through what's left and see what Basics I may need and what 'barbie' needs some new items. Really the casual/ smart Barbie for nipping out to pub or a night out. Have also been through my accessories too.

Feel much better after the clear out. Waited till hubby was out and getting ready to go to hair dressers and tried a few things on and had honest look in the mirror. Does it look good on/flatter my shape/suit the cut/colour. Quick desisions on some and to the charity shop it went same day!!
  • I am realising what works for me and what doesnt, I have been able to use 2 skirts and using tights, no tights, blouse, plain tshirt (well the fitted ones from primar), a waistcoat, a cardigan, a jumper.. I have various outfits for different occassions and all from a few items.

Still working through. A nice amount of bits to go to the bootsale. Found lots of costume jewellery too which I have worn once and never again, I am trying to find things which can be used to make a boring work outfit a little brighter or a 'casual Barbie' feel bit more like 'glam barbie'

    Its a working progress

I had the same problem recently, I had so much useless stuff (much from my sister which didn't fit me anymore and had for several years) that I had to just spring clean everything and take to the charity shop. All the natty stuff had to go and I'm left with a whole bunch of pretty items I never got round to wearing. It helps that now I have a job that doesn't require a uniform so now I can put it to good use. Buy cheap basics and mix and match with the rest
