I can't decide whether it's better to have multi functional clothes that work for several of my Barbies - or whether it's better to have separate sections for each Barbie so I know that for this situation the clothes are here etc. To save faffing.

I have discovered that I'm missing a smart coat. All mine are "practical"! And some pop socks. Or trouser socks.

I think Dog Walking Barbie sounds very stylish, and I'm just off to check to see if I've got a Mutton Barbie hiding at the back of the wardrobe. (I suspect I might.)

if FrumpKiller Barbie :D has a spare moment there's a Tatty Knicker Drawer Of Doom in my house that could also do with tackling. It's one down from The I Only Wear Comfy Pants So Why Have I Got So Many Skimpy Knickers? Drawer.

And two down from the Yes Apparently I Do Need Different Socks For Different Outfits. Different Shoes and Different Activities Drawer.

    So...It's going well! :D

I'm not sure anyone would want FrumpKiller Barbie. I knew I'd got trouble when she found an ancient bra whose glory days were a few years and several stones ago, and was heard to say 'You're not seriously thinking of stuffing your bangers into this are you?'. FrumpKiller Barbie seems to believe that she's Gok Wan :)

I've been thinking about my Barbies (whilst whiling away the hours at work :o) and have come up with the following:

Secretary Barbie looks smart in shift dresses, little cardigans, tights heels & specs
Allotment Barbie wears tatty jeans, old sweatshirt, thermal socks, Cat boots or wellies, cap, pony tail & dirty fingernails with vest tops & cut-offs for summer plus a ski jacket / fleece / waterproof as required
Outdoor Leisure Barbie similar to GQ's Hiking Barbie, she wears walking shoes / boots, expensive high performance outdoor leisure wear and carries a small rucsack & map
Sport-watching Barbie looks the part in her footie or rugby team's shirt (female-cut of course!), jeans and Cat boots with a warm long down coat for those windy terraces
Leisure-time Barbie - Winter - leggings, boots, long jumpers or tunic tops and thick cardigan plus down coat
Leisure-time Barbie - Summer - cropped or loose linen trousers, t-shirt or loose long shirt, ballet slippers or flip-flops with long cardi for cold spells & rain mac for those pesky showers
Around-the-house Barbie wears whatever jeans are on the bedroom chair with a cashmere sweater scrounged from DH, thick socks and slippers
Getting Older Barbie can be identified by the flat Cat boots (for walking to the pub in comfort) and easily removed / added layers (for those "warm" moments!)
Summer Holiday Barbie wears bright cotton sundresses, shorts and strappy tops or floaty maxi dresses
and finally, kept hidden at the back of the wardrobe and only brought out on special occasions is
Party Barbie who has a wide choice of party frocks to be worn with a long Monsoon cardigan with killer heels and big hair.

Now I need to work out how many outfits each Barbie really needs, and do battle with the Accessory Barbie.....

    Hi,
Just wanted to thank you all for inspiring me to tackle my mountain of clothes. I have put weight on but was very reluctant to part with my size 14 clothes which sat in my wardrobe forlornly. Over the weekend I sorted one of my wardrobes out and with OH's encouragement managed to bag up 9 bin liners full of clothes. Being MSE I called one of those clothes for cash companies and ycollected yesterday and gave me £19. Although it is nice to have a bit of money for them, the feeling of lightness and almost euphoria at finally getting rid is priceless. I did take some of the nicer bits to CS so they benefitted as well. thanks once again and good luck

I'm loving this. We redecorated our bedroom at the end of last year and I decluttered my wardrobe. I still have more clothes than I really need. I have divided my clothes into summer and winter. At the end of summer I will get rid of anything that is past it's best or that I haven't worn.

I will do the same with my winter clothes.

I have also set myself a challenge to not buy any new clothes this year. I have slipped up a bit but I haven't been buying mindlessly like I usually do.

Still waiting for the weather to break and tackling the garden, before starting on my clothes! But I did manage to bin a pair of socks, with a hole that even I cannot darn - definitely, not ones that I've hand-knitted. :rotfl:

So far I have cleaned out my underwear drawers so tidied out and all suspect items binned. Lots of 'excess' hangers thrown out wardrobe so I can move about wardrobe now. I have moved out some winter items that are good enough to be kept till next year. And will tackle the wardrobe this weekend! Summer holidays clothes also to go through. There will be no escape!!

Although I have the following barbies

Slob/house work barbie- usually combines ohmygod why did I come to supermarket like this barbie!!!

Work barbie- works from office with young people.

Weekend/social barbie. Have very little social life as not much spare money so seems to be same as work barbie

Going out/pub barbie- has very little as struggle to do half way. Get very distressed so end up staying in with slob barbie

Posh barbie- rarely goes out but has beautiful dresses to wear....

So have some work to do, I have make up that I really like but make little time. I feel I always look like I have never left looking like I'm still a student. But at coming up to mid thirties I owe myself a smarten up....

Overhaul barbie is coming out I feel ..... :)

Your "going out" and "posh" wardrobes sound like mine were. We don't go to dressy events all that often yet I had 6 frocks! But we go out for a meal or drinks with friends quite a lot and I always struggled to find something appropriate! Madness.

What helped me was to get help from someone who would look at things I'd walk straight past. In my case it was DH but a friend is good too. He found a frock for £8 that I would never have glanced at but it's the keystone to my wardrobe now. I can wear it layered up with a poloneck underneath or a cardi on top, just as it is or with a nice jacket, with casual or more going-outey shoes and it's good with all manner of accessories.
