Can I open a barclays or Co-Op account tomorrow even if I am bankrupt or will they be funny about it?
Yes you can open the Barclays basic account tomorrow (but as I said Coop will not let you have one due to the debt with them).
Now you are BR, you don't have to inform the OR about opening a basic account.

Thanks again I will go into barclays tomorrow and try opening an account not looking forward to the face to face interview with the receiver but hey its part of the bankruptcy process. My memory is not the greatest and during my downward spiral I threw all of my statements in the bin and I was approx in the amounts I owe the banks. Also my old alliance and leicester account which I have tried to close with the balance being zero for many a moon I didnt mention on the petition will I be able to close it on the phone because I have tried and tried on numerous occasions but get contradictive answers0

Hi there
just wanted to say well done for taking the first steps that is the worst part. The OR interview is fine I was really worried but as loads of people have said nothing to worry about just be honest when they see that they will work with you not against you within reason lol.
Dont be suprised if they are not exactly punctual with phone calls I can imagine in this day and age they are very busy.
Take care

Hi there,
Just ignore it and don't worry about it. The OR will inform all of the people you owe money to, it can take a little time in some cases. Some companies will even try their luck and ask you to pay even when they know you are br.
I have to say well done too :T0 -
thanks lovely for the quick reply I did ring creation finance and the OR has not been in contact with them I will await the ORs call today if they dont ring I will contact the OR at 5ish0

Just as a guide the OR normally aims to wite to all creditors within 8 weeks of the bankruptcy, so it may be a while before the calls die down, If you get any though the ONLY things you need to tell them are you bankruptcy number, date and the OR's office dealing with itHi, im Debtinfo, i am an ex insolvency examiner and over the years have personally dealt with thousands of bankruptcy cases.
