When should I start bankruptcy proceeding as soon as possible or can I wait a few days or so because I have a few issues with my ex who thinks he can try marching back into my life as and when he wants0

There is no need to rush into bankruptcy, it can be many months before they can take any meaningfull action against you, so take all the time you need before doing it, it is not easy to undo if you think you made the wrong choice laterHi, im Debtinfo, i am an ex insolvency examiner and over the years have personally dealt with thousands of bankruptcy cases.
Please note that any views i put forth are not those of my former employer The Insolvency Service and do not constitute professional advice, you should always seek professional advice before entering insolvency proceedings.0 -
Just wanted to pop in and wish you all the best. I am the "author" of the link you were sent to. I know how bad you are feeling at the moment, and if you do decide to go down the bankruptcy route, the people here will be able to guide you. It is a hard path but you will get through it. Oh and the OR will ask if you have stopped gambling, so it may be best to take steps to stop right away.
Again all the best!0 -

If it's the Courts of Justice in London these thread's may help:-
onward’s thread - Click here
Hanky3 thread - Click here
Remember these are quite old threads now and do check times by ringing the court and the fees maybe wrong too.
Hope this helps though
Best wishes

hey guys finally took the plunge on Friday gone and went to the roll building in fetter lane and gave in my paperwork and by 3.30pm I was declared bankrupt!. I have debt over £100k and the friendly clerk said the official receiver will ring me in 2 working days with some questions which is tomorrow what can I expect? Secondly my debt is with various banks including Barclays and the Co-Op will they let me open an account because I bank with Santander who I have no debt with. I feel relieved but feel nervous about the phone call and maybe interview with receiver0

Congratulations - onwards and upwards from here!
The OR will just ask about anything that is not clear on your forms - nothing to really worry about, but do set aside an hour or so. They'll probably want to know if you've stopped gambling, what help/support you are getting/seeking with the gambling and when the loans/credit cards were taken out - more of a discussion than an interview.
Can't really advise about Santander, but I believe they are more likely to freeze your account now you are BR.
I also had debts with both Barclays and Co-op and opened an account with Secure Trust Bank (you have to pay for it though). That said, Co-op did not freeze the cashminder account and now that all the other accounts have disappeared (I had other post BR issues with them), I will start using it again!"Whether you think you can, or you think you can't -- you're right" - Henry Ford0 -

It will just be a quick call to check name address etc, then your main one later. Which will be a face to face one.

Co-op will not let you open a basic account with them but Barclays will, please click on BR friendly bank accounts link below for more info:-
BR Friendly bank accounts sticky.
Here's to your new start BR123
Best wishes
