coming to end of contract, dont want to continue, what do i do?
My contract with 02 ends 6th june and i am currently paying £25 tarriff for way more mins and texts and data than i need and an extra 7.50 for insurance plus vat.
I have decided i just want to go SIM only after my contract as my phone is fine and im going to cancel my insurance and just go on 30 day sim plan with either talkmobile £8 or giffgaff £10 until,my current phone packs up at which point ill get a new contract somewhere with cashback...
Ive never came out of a contract, always upgraded and didnt realise i woukd have to give thirty days notice, obviously 30 days from now will take me past 6th june, so does this mean i will have to pay another full month? Or can i just pay the week or so extra?
Or could i just 'upgrade' to a 30 day rolling sim with 02 and give my 30 day notice straigt away?

If you're going to stay on o2 on a rolling sim, call them, follow the options for "I want to leave", and then advise them that you want to move on to a simo package.
If you give notice you'll pay 30 days from the date you give notice, so either give notice, or request (and use!) a PAC in order to take your number elsewhere.0 -

Yes, you need to give 30 days notice, so if you call today (13th May) you'll either end the contract on the 13th of June and pay nothign more in fee's but a weeks more line rental, or you can have it finish on the 6th of June and pay a weeks notice. Either way it will work out the same.
If you want to move networks and take your number you need to ask gfor a PAC code to give to the new network, however you cannot give notice and ask for a PAC it's one or the other, and if you don't use the PAC (its valid for 30 days) your contract continues.
IF you take the Sim only option with o2 they will probably waive any fees and just mvoe you over, but that may or may not be the best value option for you,0 -
If i pay to come out of the contract on the 6th june, is it literally a weeks worth of my tarriff? Or will theres be extra fees on top?0

Thankyou, im going to give them a ring this morning, from your helpful info, i realise i want to keep my number so shall ask for a pac code, and i presume they will be able to tell me the extra cost for ending my contract on the 6th there and then?
I like 02 never had any probs but their simplicity 30 day sim only plans are more than double talkmobile or giffgaff so i dont hold out any hope of them matching them...0 -
Use of the PAC serves as notice, not requesting it. So, if you get the PAC today and then give it to new provider tomorrow, port date will likely be weds - so 30 days from Weds.
Talkmobile use Vodafone, so do a signal check on the Vodafone website.0 -
Doesnt that mean that for the first month you pay for a month of 02 service even though you wont be using it and paying for the first month of the new provider as well?
I havent ordered a new sim yet i guess i need to do that Asap!0 -
I don't understand what you mean, you pay line rental upfront normally, but you don't pay for a period when you dont have access to the service. Take as long as you want - the dates I gave are only for example - although the timescales are correct. Some networks can order a sim and schedule a port in at the same time for you.
Also, you can choose a later port date than the one suggested, so if you know you need to make or receive calls on proposed port day, choose a different one. You'll have interrupted service on both sims until 4PM0 -
I see, thankyou for explaining :-)0
