Hi there,
Today I recieved a Parking Charge notice from Parking eye stating I entered their Scarborough car park at 09.49 and departed 10.14 on may 6th.
It goes onto ay the signage is clearly displayed at the entrance and throughout the carpark and states this is a private car park.
I did enter it but didnt buy a ticket and they have a photograph of my vehicle entering and exiting the car par (aslo on the notice)
£80 but rduced to £50 if i pay within 13 days, or an admin charge of £30 will be added so the total is £110.
I did notice it says the parking charge below is now payable by the driver.
any advice greatly appreciated as i dont want sleepless nights, should I pay it? or ignore
regards
Douglas

Ignore it - no sleepless nights needed at all as it's quite fun ignoring this scam!

Stop reading it and just read this forum instead, have you seen the preview letters to expect and the Watchdog clip on the second to top thread 'PPC letters & threats'? If not then read it and watch the clip. You can then play a nice game of snap with each letter that arrives (don't read their drivel).

There's tons about this scam if you just Google, here's one example with a professional opinion about a private ticket (never mind who issued it):

    http://www.justanswer.com/uk-law/5isk3-hi-overstayed-berkley-precinct-car-park-ecclesall-rd.html

''This is a private land fine. They are unenforceable. This is not a parking fine however it may look. These companies are private firms that have no more right to punish you for the manner of your parking than your neighbour does.''

That quote from an expert barrister. The Watchdog clip I mentioned before features an expert solicitor. You can rely on their advice.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Forget their preposterous and outrageous unenforceable demand.

However, if it was a pay and display park, you should have paid the fee; or did you not see the notice?

So you do owe them what you should have paid to park.

To cover yourself, why not send them a cheque for the amount you SHOULD have paid (£1, £2?) and state that it is in full and final settlement of what you owe them.

As Coupon-Mad says, anything else that they are trying to rush you for is completely unenforceable because it is an illegal fine.

It will just keep on rising.. by 2016 it will have reached £1 million... by 2021 £10 million.... alternatively the dummies may realise they are wasting their time trying to threaten you and will give up. Which do you think will happen?

Sheriff? That sounds like you're in Scotland.

Anyway, for things to actually get to this stage, they would have to take you to court, win the case and then you’d have to refuse to pay. After 28 days a CCJ would be issued and the bailiffs (or the Scottish equivalents) could be appointed[STRIKE], both by the court not the PPC[/STRIKE].

This is possible. It’s also possible that the world’s going to end on 21 December. The latter is more likely.
