+1 for self cleaning function, if I ever open the oven and find its a bit smokey, after cooking I just set it off on the clean cycle, then wipe it down when its cooled down.

Next time I buy an oven, I will also look for forced air, this is where there is the option of using a heating element that wraps the fan, which should make for faster cooking times. A separate grill/smaller oven would be very useful too.

Although theres an element of truth there, there are other differences between companies.

Did you know, Bosch Dishwashers are set up to accept the racks from Bosch Ovens but the Neff one's don't fit so nice ??

The bit about Bosch dishwashers and oven racks is useful. Having not had a dishwasher so far, it hadn't occurred to me that they would be suitable for cleaning oven racks. I am about to look at double ovens for my new kitchen and am considering Bosch ones.
  • I am currently doing my kitchen and need all the cooking things: hob, integrated micro and single oven. I have a Bosch dishwasher, Siemens fridgefreezer and Miele washing machine (I didn't know about the compatibility of matching appliances, thank you Kitchen Designr, that's very interesting) so was thinking of these brands again.

However, I had a quite specific requirement for the hob due to size constraints and it was best met by a John Lewis (or AEG but it costs more and has a 2 year vs 3 year guarantee with JL) appliance and I think I'll probably get the other two to match.

However again, I was on the IKEA website sourcing the sink and unit for the utility room and I saw their appliances which are very well-priced and all come with an impressive 5 year guarantee!!

Any thoughts on either John Lewis or IKEA appliances?

I am thinking of ordering appliances from JL because of the 2 year guarantee. A colleague has just had her whole kitchen from there including appliances and is pleased with it. It hadn't occurred to me to try IKEA but i'm not really a great fan of them.

We got a new Belling dual fuel range cooker 90cm a few months back. Love it. One thing we didn't think of, and wish we had - extractor fan: Check the noise as the one we got is really noisy. I know its not to do with your new oven but just something I hope may spare someone else the mistake we made.
If I had a pound for every pound I'd lost, I'd be confused
