Countrywide Surveyors

We've just had a survey done by Countrywide Surveyor (CWS) and are very relieved that all has gone smoothly. We were a little anxious having seen the number of poor reviews.
On initiation by our bank (FD), CWS were prompt in setting up an account for us and then booking in the surveyor. The day before the survey we phoned CWS asking if we could get the surveyor to look at particular points of concern. They got the surveyor to phone us that same afternoon and it was reassuring to chat directly with them.
The full report was emailed to us a little after 5 o'clock on the day of the survey and the valuation form has come in the post today also. The surveyors report does fully address the points of concern we raised. We therefore now have all the paperwork from them within two days of the survey having been carried out.0 -
Hi, just wondering is it normal practise for the surveyor to call you after the survey to give you a 'heads up on what he has seen?' I had a voicemail from the surveyor today (Countrywide) stating he wanted to give me a heads up following his visit yesterday but when I called back he said it was too late to discuss and to call him on Monday... Now I am worrying as to why he called? Is it the norm? I just expected an email or post. And to add to the discussion, I instructed the homebuyers last week and the survey has been done within 7days.
Thanks0 -
I would say a "heads up" call is good service....but now making you wait till Monday is a bit poor....but everyone is entitled to their time off work..
our surveyor that we instructed ourselves...did survey/rang us within a few hours with the "heads up"/sent us a pdf, next day/sent us a hard copy within 4 days.
so the heads up is good.0 -
Thank you for reply, when it's something so important you cannot help but worry/want to know the answer! Thanks0

Hi Tom, are you still looking for this? We have a copy I can search out and scan if you still need it...0

Another caution here. We went with Beresford Adams for conveyancing (part of Countrywide). They gave us a £200 refund form to use on completion. The terms said we had to use Countrywide conveyancing or a recommended agent.
We have now been told by the agents we cannot get the £200 back as the conveyancing lawyers they recommended to us are not part of Countrywide (even though a Countrywide company put us onto them).
So they appear not to even use their own conveyancers. But do watch out if you are selling through them and assume if you follow their recommended solicitor that you are doing what is required to get your £200.
Frankly I would not go near Countrywide for anything ever again.0 -
I just wanted to say we have just used Countrywide surveyors as we applied for a mortgage through HSBC because they had the best deal for us. I read these forums when Countrywide failed to send an email where we had to follow a link and accept their terms and conditions and I panicked! We called them twice and got conflicting information. I telephoned the estate agent who confirmed they had booked to go and survey the house on Tuesday so I decided not to worry too much and in fact the email arrived later that day. Yesterday, Thursday a copy of the valuation report arrived and a couple of hours later we receive an email with the home buyers report attached. The report was far more thorough than the report we had when we moved here and it was obvious the surveyor had investigated things quite well. Overall we are happy with the service.0

I am with Countrywide Conveyancing. My mortgage application was accepted by Santander last week. They have instructed the valuation survey but no news on when this will be yet.
I am wondering whether to ask them to do a Homebuyers report at the same time as the valuation survey (if possible) or whether I even need to as it is a purpose built flat built in 2006? any advice appreciated. thanks0 -
Post Office have booked Countrywide, reading this - great0

Does anyone know which lenders don't use esurv to undertake valuations? Kingstreet, you seem to be very much in the know, any info on this? Is there any way I can find out who works for who, down to individual surveyor level?
We've just had a valuation by an esurv chap, which has resulted in the lender declining to lend. While our own full survey highlighted the same issues as the valuer, our independent surveyor does not see these as major items, just routine things that it would be worth sorting in due course and that the house overall is a very good purchase. While we are asking the lender to review based on the full survey, plan B is to seek a mortgage from another lender but we need to try to avoid having the same valuer. Any info would be gratefully received.0
