Hi all I am a long time fan of MSE and long time lurker as well :)

I am probably a little early for July but am going to put a budget of 400 euros (as I am in Ireland) for 5 adults. This will be from 1st July to 29th July as we go on holiday on the 30th July.

    Wish me luck all.

    Marie aka flanno.
  • My july budget is £375. First one, so we'll see how I go.

SB88 congratulations, very happy for you.

Rising, I hope you can salvage everything out of your freezer. It will be awful to throw anything away. Hugs.

HelenJelly, welcome home. Glad you enjoyed your holiday. I'm green with envy. We lost our holiday due to having our pups. They're totally worth it though.

DH spent £5 in Mr M today, he only went for a 70p loaf!

Hugs to all who need one.

Welcome to all our new GCers.

Rising - It must have been awful to find your freezer like that, but I hope you can salvage some of it to cook to freeze for your dog. Our garage freezer was accidentally switched off when we went on holiday a few years ago, but I didn't have anything like as much stock as you. :grouphug: I'm pleased it was only the fuse though.

Helen jelly - good to see you back from your hols. Glad you've had a good time and not kept track ;) That's all a part of why we do this, isn't it? So we can splurge and not feel guilty!!! :)

JJ - You're going to need a smallholding before long if you grow anything else :rotfl:Love the idea of the wild wood sorrell and honeysuckle growing in your garden :T

Yet another NSD :T I've been at work all day, so we had Sm*rtPr*ce pizza with chopped peppers and sausages on top, with salad etc., and I've had a lower fat sort of Eton Mess made with crumbled meringue, low fat (cheap) sm yogurt, and a handful of blueberries. Very nice.
BTW for anyone looking for gluten free sausages, I realised that the M&S Traditional sausages I bought half price on Tuesday are GF and very tasty. Not at all spicy - just how I like them!

    Hi guys,

SB88 congratulations on the new job, well done you.

Rising, Sorry to hear about the disaster :(

Had my first shopping trip of the month, total £99.57  that's nearly half the monthly budget in one week. But it did include the cats food for the whole month. They will only eat Felix pouches so it's never cheap however I did find that Asda have the As Good As it Looks on for £3 instead of £3.48 a box and then the ordinary chunks are on at Tescos 2 for £5, so I really filled up in fact including treats and litter I spent £33.53 just on the cats.

I also pulled a blinder with my coupons in Tesco with Multi buy savings of £9.50 plus coupons of £5.60, my bill went from £53.10 to £38. I had a coupon for £1 off, if I bought a H&S shampoo and conditioner together plus a catalina for £1 off any H&S conditioner, then instead of being £4.99 each they were on for 2 for £7, I used both coupons so in the end I paid £5 for both the shampoo and conditioner. I wasn't sure whether they would accept both coupons in one transaction but they did :j

In Asda I got 2 packs of YS steak burgers that were reduced from £3.29 to £1.50. They also had stickers on for 2 for £6, I bought 2 packs so I wondered whether they would also discount the extra 58p but they didn't. Still never mind £1.50 a pack was still pretty great discount.

It took me 2 hours to do the shopping this morning because I now visit 4 supermarkets on a little round robin trip. But I actually find it sort of fun hunting down the best bargins and some times getting surprises e.g. I still have some coupons for 30p off Pilgrims Choice Cheddar which I only buy when Tescos do it at half price (which they do regularly) so it's £2.24 instead of £4.48, but today I found Asda had it on for a straight £2 and they took my coupon. DH eats a lot of cheese and I can't remember the last time I actually paid full price for a block :T

I'm away on business next week again so I've had to make sure we have plenty of sling it in the oven food for DH. Although this time that does include a portion of home made spot the meat chilli.

In other news my cupboard clearing is going well tonight we had a chicken risotto made with the arborio rice I've had in a jar for the last 3 years and a jar of M&S risotto paste I bought on impulse 6 months ago. All I need to do now is use up the M&S Welsh Rarebit mix I bought at the same time, the Aubergine & Chilli marinate from the Carribean stall at the farmers market and the Tahini!!!! Damn I have so strange stuff in my cupboards.

    Anyway night night everyone.

Sorry to hear about the freezer! Could any of it be cooked and refrozen? Or is it well and truely gone for?

  • Risingfromtheashes - sorry to hear about your freezer disaster :(

Jasmin10 - *hugs* - you are doing so well and everything is so much harder when you aren't getting much sleep.

My final amount for June was £455/£400 so didn't do too well ;). For July I'm going for £80 a week again, so £320 in total as it's a four week month for us. Hopefully this month I'll stick to it!

Spent £51 in Lid! today - we seemed to need loads of things although not many actual meals (evening meals) as I'd already got most of them sorted for this week. Pork loins were half price so got some of them.
