I did some research a couple of months ago, and the best one that I found was the:
Rowenta DM825 Professional Luxe Steam Iron
Ended up buying it from AMAZON, for £40.
Have been using it an have to say that it does get rid of the creases with great efficiency, and the only noticable point is that there is a lot of water consumed - but then I guess that it does produce a consdierable amount of steam, so that makes sense!
Hope that helps. One day I want to be the pigeon...... and not the statue!0 -
I would second the Rowenta. I've used nothing but Rowenta irons for about 20 years now. I think that they all come with a "shot of steam" button, for stubborn creases. You might also want to consider one with a vertical steam option. This is useful for jackets etc. You just put the jacket on a hanger, hold the iron vertically and steam out any wrinkles.Warning ..... I'm a peri-menopausal axe-wielding maniac0

I bought my wife a Tefal steam generater iron it cost £140 ish but she would not be without it, as the steam is so powerfull it has reduced the time in front of it.
As the wife said, "if the iron broke I would go into debt to replace it" - yes well!!!0 -
Totaly agree with with you re Tefal steam generator. No budget is too small to afford one. It has transformed my ironing life!0

Would definitely recommend a steam generator. So easy to use and less ironing hassle too! Wouldn't be without mine now..fab for linen..
JTIt's great in here!0 -
Have got the Tefal steam generator £149 most places, got mine £99 from Co-op online. Still find it hard to think I spent that much on an iron but it is soooo much better than 'ordinary' irons.0
