Iron recomendations

Options
I need a new Iron. I currently have a 3 year old Rowenta that is crap. It constantly sticks to clothes and churns out a brownish muck. I have put descaler in to clean it out and tried cleaning the sole plate to no avail. Previously I owned a Rowenta for 15 years and loved it. This new version is not a patch on it.

I saw a Phillips one in Tesco today with a ceramic plate. Are these any good. I don't really want to pay more than £40. It has to have a water spray and extra shot of steam.

Thanks for any advice.

I just treated myself to a Moulinex steam system iron that should have been £80- but I got it for £30 in a sale.

Go to robertdyas.com and look at clearance items.

I am really pleased as I fancied this for ages but could not justify the price.

I got an enormous amount of ironing done - did not have to keep refilling iron - and did not have to keep going over items again and again - really pleased :):):)

Thanks for the replies - I did a search and couldn't find anything about Irons on the forum  .

Anyway I went late night shopping and Boots had the Phillips Minstrel GC2146 (or something like that) reduced to £20. Plus I had a double points voucher and a 75 bonus point voucher so I got another £3 off. Glad I saw it on the which report :) Its lovely - really light.

    Thanks again :)

I have a Tefal Steam Generator, it cost me £230 and I cannot rate it highly enough. I know you can get them slightly cheaper but I promise you once you have used one you will never go back to a regular iron.

    ps

mine has a ceramic plate as well.,

Can you believe it I have owned my new Iron for 8 days and I haven't used it yet!!!

Oh well better log off and do some now as I have 3 basket full and oh has no shirts for work. I know he should do them himself but we trade. He loads and unloads diswasher everyday - I iron his shirts. Suits me.:p

I purchased my steam generator from here http://www.werl.co.uk/tgenirons.asp Half the price, they are factory returns, and have had it for 18 months never had a problem with it.

I have had an iron since 1990, it is one of those heavy non-steam ones and it is fine, less to go wrong with it, and its still going strong.
